Dutch shipbuilder Damen has delivered the first-of-its-series Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) 600 to an Indonesian customer, PT. Dua Samudera Perkasa.The vessel was sold immediately after completion at the Damen Dredging Equipment yard. Indonesian Firm Orders Two Dredges from Royal IHC

Indonesian firm PT. Jhonlin Marine Trans has placed an order for two dredges from Royal IHC, based in the Netherlands.Jhonlin Marine Trans is the marine subsidiary of Jhonlin Group, one of the largest companies in Indonesia under the ownership of Mr. Samsudin Andi Arsyad. Rangga Rishar Saputra, Country Manager Indonesia for Royal IHC, said, “We are grateful that Jhonlin and Mr. Isam has put their faith in IHC Dredging in developing their dredging capacity. Passenger Ferry Delivered to Guadeloupe Operator

A 36-meter custom built passenger ferry has been delivered to Guadeloupe-based operator CTM Deher by Incat Crowther.The new 316-seat passenger ferry has been designed to safely and efficiently service CTM Deher’s passenger and tourism routes in the French West Indies and is expected to begin operating in late 2023.The new ferry, named Miss Outre-Mer, was designed using Incat Crowther's digital shipbuilding process. This meant CTM Deher and Incat Crowther worked closely together to deliver the complete digital ship design before physical construction began at PT Kim Seah Shipyard in Indonesia.

Yanmar Delivers Its First Maritime Hydrogen Fuel Cell System

Yanmar Power Technology Co., Ltd. (Yanmar PT), a subsidiary of Yanmar Holdings Co., Ltd, has made its first delivery of its newly commercialized maritime hydrogen fuel cell system, introduced in August 2023. This system was supplied to the passenger ship Hanaria, operated by MOTENA-Sea, a company backed by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. and other investors.The Hanaria is Japan's first hybrid passenger ship to use both hydrogen and biodiesel. The vessel operates with an onboard electric propulsion system that powers the ship’s drive using generated electricity.

MOL Establishes Indonesian Manning Company

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and PT MCS Internasional (MCSI) have established PT McMOL Crewing International, a new joint-venture LNG carrier manning company. MCSI is part of PT Humpuss Maritim Internasional Tbk. Group in Indonesia.The JV plans to begin operations in April 2024, and will primarily allocate seafarers for the MOL Group's fleet of LNG carriers.In operating vessels transporting LNG, it is essential to recruit, train, and retain top-quality seafarers who are qualified to handle LNG, says MOL.

ATSB: Fatal Pilot Ladder Accident Has Enduring Lessons

Managers of the two vessels involved in a fatal crew transfer accident off Brisbane, Australia, had not ensured personnel had a common and complete understanding of how the transfer would be conducted, an Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) investigation has concluded.On 9 August 2021, crew were being transferred to and from the bulk carrier Formosabulk Clement via the launch boat PT Transporter in the Port of Brisbane anchorage, about five nautical miles off the coast.The operation involved multiple visits from PT Transporter to transfer crew on and off the anchored bulk carrier.

Valeura Energy Completes Modification of MT Jaka Tarub Vessel for Wassana Offshore Oil Field

Oil and gas company Valeura Energy said Monday that modifications to the MT Jaka Tarub crude oil storage vessel were complete, making the vessel compatible with infrastructure at its Wassana oil field, offshore Thailand.According to Valeura Energy, the vessel is capable of tandem crude oil loading/offloading. Valeura Energy Books Tanker for Gulf of Thailand Oil Field

Oil and gas company Valeura Energy has entered into a definitive agreement with PT Samudra Alam Transport to charter the MT Vula crude oil tanker to store oil produced from the Wassana oil field, offshore in the Gulf of Thailand.In Q2 2022, Valeura acquired KrisEnergy International (Thailand) Holdings Ltd. which owns and operates two licenses in the offshore Gulf of Thailand. The acquisition included the suspended Wassana oil field and the fully appraised Rossukon oil field. A new twin screw tug Karya Pacific 2232 was completed by PT. Karya Teknik Utama (KTU) in June and has wrapped up successful trials off Batam, Indonesia, just south of Singapore.The Karya Pacific 2232 is a TRAder 2700 steel tug designed especially for PT. Karya Teknik Utama by Robert Allan Ltd. The drive is conventional shaft propulsion, with or without nozzles. The Karya Pacific 2232 is fitted with open screws.The tug is designed for towing barges in the Indonesian archipelago where depth of water is sometimes limited.

PaxOcean to Convert PSV to Cable Layer for Triasmitra

PaxOcean said its Nanindah Mutiara Shipyard in Indonesia has secured a contract to convert a platform supply vessel (PSV) into a submarine cable laying vessel (CLV) for telecoms company PT Ketrosden Triasmitra.The PSV is the Norwegian-built Skandi Sotra, previously acquired from Norway's DOF Group.As part of the conversion, the vessel will be equipped with a remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) and plough system. The vessel is scheduled to be delivered early in the second quarter of 2023.

A new 255-seat passenger ferry Indomal Empire has entered service for operator Indomal Express on the Malacca Strait between Indonesia and Malaysia.The Incat Crowther 30 ferry was built by PT Cahaya Samudra Shipyard in Batam, Indonesia. Indomal Empire was specifically developed to cater to a segment of the market demanding lower ticket prices and subsequently less complex and yet still very capable vessels, according to designer Incat Corwther.Indomal Empire is powered by twin MAN D2862 LE483 main engines, propelling the vessel to a top speed of 30 knots.
