NYK, Pertamina Ink Energy Transport MOU

As demand for energy transportation, especially liquefied natural gas (LNG), is expected to increase in Indonesia, NYK and PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), a wholly owned subsidiary of PT Pertamina (Persero) agreed to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for energy transportation.The framework of the deal sees Pertamina, the largest oil and natural gas corporation in the state, and NYK in a strategic partners in energy transportation and covers ownership and management.

Small Scale LNG Market to Grow by 6.81%

Neptune Acquires Interests in Offshore Indonesia

Neptune Energy East Sepinggan, subsidiary of the European exploration and production company Neptune Energy has agreed to acquire interests from the Eni East Sepinggan Limited, a unit of Eni in the Kutei basin production sharing contracts (PSC) offshore Indonesia.According to a press release from the Italian multinational oil and gas company, it  will continue to be the Operator of the area which is located in the East Sepinggan area, offshore East Kalimantan in Indonesia, and includes Merakes development and Merakes East discovery. Asia: Pertamina, Petronas Join Forces

Indonesian state-owned energy company PT Pertamina and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) of Malaysia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop oil and gas business – upstream and downstream, not only in Indonesia or Malaysia but also in other countries.As per MoU, Pertamina will swap crude produced in its Malaysian fields of Kikeh, Kimanis and Kidurong with crude from Petronas' Indonesian fields of Jabung and Ketapang, said a Reuters report quoting Pertamina sources.Meanwhile, Pertamina,  Jakarta-based state-owned oil and natural gas corporation, said in a statement that the two companies have also agreed to explore crude processing investment in East Asia and in other continents…

Indonesia Approves Eni’s Merakes Project

Italian energy giant Eni announced that Indonesia has approved its investment plan for the Merakes project, located in the Kutei Basin, offshore East Kalimantan.Eni will now start work on developing the project, which will involve drilling and constructing subsea wells in water depths of 1,500 metres. Pertamina Delivers First LNG Cargo to Nusantara FSRU

Indonesia's government controlled PT Pertamina said that the first LNG cargo produced with the gas sourced at the field has been delivered to the Nusantara Regas’ Nusantara FSRU in the Jakarta Bay.    The shipment is the first LNG cargo since the official PHM became the operator of the Mahakam block as of January 1, 2018.   The LNG gas cargo of 2 million per million british thermal units (MMBTU) is delivered to Nusantara Regas One's floating storage and regasification units (FSRU) in Jakarta Bay. The LNG Carrier Aquarius ship carried the LNG gas cargo on Thursday, (4/1).   The inaugural LNG gas will be processed for distribution to the PLN power plant in Jakarta and surrounding areas.

Samudera in $70mln LNG Deal

Samudera Indonesia has won a $70 million contract for supplying liquefied-natural gas to a power plant operated by state gold miner Aneka Tambang in Pomalaa, Southeast Sulawesi. The company will assign one of its 50 ships to serve the plant, managing director Bani Mulia said. "Our target is to start supplying [the LNG] next year," he said. The company will  initially deploy 1-2 vessels and will gradually increase to six vessels to serve the contract. The length of the contract was not disclosed. The Indonesian company has set aside $120m with which to buy up to six ships this year, including oil tankers, LNG carriers and container vessels. Samudera Indonesia is also taking part in a tender to procure an FSRU (floating storage and regasification unit) for state energy company PT Pertamina.

Tanker Blast Kills Four at Belawan Port

An explosion occurred on a tanker belonging to state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina on Monday evening while the ship was under repair at Belawan Port in North Sumatra, killing four workers. Three victims died on the spot, while the fourth worker died in a hospital succumbing to fatal injuries. Indonesia-flagged Palu Sipat, owned by the national oil company PT Pertamina, was docked at the port for repairs when it caught fire and exploded at 17:00 h local time. Belawan Port Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Aswin Sipayung said the tanker explosion took place as it was docked for repairs at Belawan Port on Monday afternoon. The cause of the explosion remains unknown, as investigators were not allowed to enter the explosion site due to safety concerns. "The ship is still full of gas.

Otto Marine Builds 4 Vessels for PTK

Otto Marine Limited, an offshore marine group which owns and operates a large fleet of offshore support vessels with a worldwide presence, complemented by a technically proven shipyard, announced today that its shipyard, PT Batamec, has completed the construction of two units of harbor tug and two units of anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) for PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental (PTK). Indonesia, Norway to Cooperate on Deep Sea Technology

Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Prime Minister of Norway Erna Solberg agreed to cooperate on deep sea technology for oil and gas exploration and maritime sector. Norway has been advanced on deep sea technology and Indonesia thinks it is beneficial to have cooperation in this sector because many of its oil reserve are located in deep sea," Indonesian Energy and Mines Minister Sudirman Said said. Most of Indonesia's oil and gas reserves are located in deep sea in the eastern part of the country. The minister said that Indonesia's state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina and Norway's state company State Oil would cooperate in implementing the plan.

Wärtsilä to Set-up Indonesia's first bio-LNG plant

Wärtsilä and two Indonesian partners have today signed a joint development agreement with the intention of creating the first ever bio-LNG plant in Indonesia. The co-signers of the agreement with Wärtsilä are PT Pertamina (Persero), a national energy company, and PT Godang Tua Jaya (GTJ), a waste utilization sector specialist company. Wärtsilä Oil & Gas Systems (WOGS) will conduct a feasibility study for the project to develop a mini bio-LNG plant with a capacity of 0,75 tons/hour, which corresponds to approximately 4 MW/hour in electrical production. The plant will process municipal solid waste into eco-friendly biogas for use as a renewable energy source for typical vehicle fuel. In addition to the feasibility study, WOGS will provide technological support and an economic assessment.

Pertamina Awards EPCI Contract for Matindok Gas Project

Technip, in a consortium with PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA), was awarded an onshore lumpsum contract by PT Pertamina EP for the Matindok Gas Development project located in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. The contract covers the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of gas well pads, flowlines, pipelines; a central processing plant (672 million cubic meters per year of gas) with gas treatment facilities such as acid gas removal as well as sulphur removal, and related infrastructure. Hallin Dedicates ROV Support Vessel

Hallin Marine expanded its fleet of offshore support vessels with Kendal, a multipurpose subsea vessel, with both ROV and Air Diving capability installed departs for her first project with PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) in Indonesia, this coming Saturday after the naming ceremony. PHE ONWJ, as her first customer, has engaged the vessel for a 3 month IRM campaign in North Java. For this work, the vessel has been equipped with two TMS  inspection class ROV’s and is supported by the project team from the Hallin office in Jakarta.

Pertamina Orders Six Oil Tankers

According to an August 9 report from The Jakarta Post, state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has placed orders for six tankers for about $102m to support its fuel distribution across the archipelago. Frontline Purchases Pertamina VLCCs

PT Pertamina (Persero) has entered into a definitive Sale and Purchase Agreement pursuant to which Windstar Marine Inc. and Speed Shipping Corp. two single purpose companies nominated by Frontline Ltd. in accordance with the Terms of Reference for Bid, but presently controlled by Frontline's majority shareholder Hemen Holding Limited ("Hemen"), have agreed to acquire Pertamina's two Very Large Crude Carriers ("VLCC") which are currently being constructed by Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. Pertamina to Procure 32 Oil Tankers

PT Pertamina will procure 32 oil tankers totaling more than 800,000 dwt for domestic oil shipments, according to a report on Antara News. The company`s president was quoted in the report as saying that the company’s oil transportation fleet is aging and needs refurbishment, and that the company would procure the tankers under the bare boat hire purchase scheme, with the intent to own them after about 10 years. Though competition to provide the tonnage would be strong, it was indicated that Pertamina would prioritize locally built vessels. The tankers are expected to be ready starting from 2008 to 2012, and will include two 500 dwt LPG tankers, four 3,500 dwt, three 6,500 dwt tankers, ten 17,500 DWT, ten 30,000 dwt tankers and three Aframax with a capacity above 100,000 dwt.

Indonesian Tanker Explosion Kills 4

An oil tanker that had just unloaded its cargo exploded on a Sumatran river Wednesday, killing four crew members, reports said. The MT Maulana had delivered a load of diesel fuel and was returning to port in the afternoon when the explosion occurred, said police investigators. Firefighters battled the blaze for two hours to bringing it under control. An electrical problem ignited fuel, touching off the blast. Tugboats towed the charred wreckage of the 1,500-ton ship, leased by Indonesian state-owned oil giant PT Pertamina, out of traffic lanes on the Siak river, which connects the regional port directly to the Malacca Strait, one of the world's busiest waterways.
