Tech File: Gilkes Dual Circuit Pump System

A growing list of engine manufactures are opting to switch from a two-pump high and low temperature arrangement to a single Gilkes pump design, the pump manufacturer reports.Gilkes has provided designs for both new engine platforms and upgrading existing cooling circuits for the last 15 years, with a product development cycle that allows engine manufacturers to tailor every aspect of the design to meet ever-changing technical requirements.

Hamworthy Names New CEO

Singapore-based marine and offshore pump manufacturer Hamworthy Pumps has appointed Hans Christiaan Laheij, 48, as its new CEO.The new CEO will join the company on January 15, 2021. Aussie Pumps Wins Korean Navy Contract

A Sydney base pump manufacturer and defense contractor has won a contract, to supply 3” engine drive salvage pumps for the Republic Of Korea Navy. Trelleborg Selected for FPSO Water Injection Package

The pump manufacturer Ruhrpumpen has chosen Trelleborg Gimbal Mountings for its water injection package for LNG in Gjerdrum, Norway. The package is placed on a special designed Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit from Sevan Marine, the Sevan Voyageur. Trelleborg’s gimbal mountings will be used as a three point suspension system protecting the equipment from vibration and the movements of the vessel. Hamworthy PUMP-FLO Electronic Catalogs

PUMP-FLO Solutions, a provider of software solutions to the fluid handling industry, announced that Hamworthy, a high technology marine pump manufacturer, has chosen PUMP-FLO Solutions to create an electronic pump catalog for use in the PIPE-FLO system design software and PUMP-FLO selection software. Under terms of the agreement, Hamworthy has chosen to make available their centrifugal pump line catalog to the PUMP-FLO and Engineered Software user-base through the Engineered Software website. Hamworthy, headquartered in Poole (UK), serves not only the marine industry but also gas & oil and has branched out into general industrial as well.

Berggren Joins Grundfos

Grundfos has hired Jon Berggren as a new Business Development Manager to further strengthen the global pump manufacturer’s marine sector. Berggren holds degrees in mechanical engineering and marketing. He has 14 years of international experience in the maritime industry. Most recently, he was Marketing Manager of Commercial Marine at Colfax Corporation, where he was also Sales Director of IMO AB, one of the company’s brands. He has also held various positions with Alfa Laval, among other jobs.

Colfax, Allweiler Strengthen Presence in China, India

Allweiler AG has been producing pump parts at its own factory in Wuxi, China since the beginning of October. Starting in 2006, this plant will manufacture complete pumps for the Asian market. Having a production site in China makes it much easier for Allweiler to gain ground in this market. In neighboring India, the company recently purchased pump manufacturer Tushaco Pumps Ltd. Tushaco has been producing various pump types under license from Allweiler for about thirty years.Allweiler sees significant potential for growth in the Chinese market over the next few years, and being able to produce parts or entire pumps at its own Chinese plant will make it much easier to increase sales in that country.

IMO Pumps Serviced by Ciserv

Ciserv AB of Gothenburg, a member of the Wärtsilä group, has signed a cooperation agreement with the Swedish pump manufacturer IMO AB in September 2005 to serve the users of IMO pumps. This is the first co-operation agreement signed by a Ciserv company with IMO, and similar agreements will be signed by other Ciserv companies in other countries world-wide. This cooperation agreement makes an important addition to the range of products and services offered by Ciserv and will improve the component availability for the customers. Ciserv will work as IMO's extended arm to supply also services for upgradings of existing installations in a wide range of applications. The agreement is designed to increase the availability of IMO pumps to their users.
