Shipbuilding: ASRY Receives ASME Accreditation

The New Construction & Engineering Department of ASRY received ASME Accreditation which allows ASRY to manufacture and repair Coded Pressure Vessels.ASRY attained this accreditation after an extensive review of the company's Quality Assurance Systems, Engineering, Warehousing, Production, and Quality Control capabilities. HTL Australasia Receives NATA Accreditation

Kohler Power Systems Announces Promotions

Kohler Power Systems has announced two promotions within its marine segment. Patrick Kline has been promoted to Global Marine, Americas, KPS; and Frank Formas has been appointed to MGR – Field Service, Global Marine, KPS. In his new role, Kline has overall responsibility for all Global Marine sales efforts in the Americas. While at Kohler, he has established a rapport with the North American Global Marine distribution channel and has introduced Global Marine into unexplored markets. In his new position, Kline will continue to develop the Global Marine Americas network toward further segment diversification and area coverage expansion.

Australian Coal Port Expansion Contract

BMT & Adani Mining Pty Ltd (Adani) to design expansion at the Adani Abbot Point Coal Terminal at Abbot Point, north of Mackay, Queensland. The collaboration will involve BMT engineers from Australia (BMT WBM) and India (BMT Consultants (India)) working closely together with Adani at its head office in Ahmedabad, India. The proposed ‘T0’ expansion of the coal terminal at Abbot Point will have a capacity of 70 million tons per annum of product coal and together with the existing ‘T1’ terminal, will deliver a total capacity of 120 million tons per annum.

ASC Supplies Software to HEISCO

Autoship Systems Corporation (ASC) of Vancouver, Canada is pleased to announce a new installation of its naval architecture and ship production software to a shipyard client in the Middle East. HEISCO (Heavy Engineering Industries & Shipbuilding Co.) has chosen ‘The AutoSHIP WORKS Package’ which will allow them to take a new project through the complete design spiral - from hull lines right through to nested parts - in a shorter timeframe. The Marine division of HEISCO was established in 1974 (as Kuwait Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Co.) to meet the needs of the shipping and maritime industry in the Northern Arabian Gulf. Over the years the Marine division has diversified its initial core business activities to meet requests for new engineering projects.

IZAR Lands FPSO Order

IZAR has been awarded a contract to build a 900,000bb FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading) unit for Belgium's company Exmar Offshore. The unit is scheduled to be delivered at the end of January 2003 and is intended to be operated by Exmar at the Aquitaine field, in the Mediterranean sea, off Libya. The design is characterized by moderate dimensions such as 210.6 m length, 44 m breadth, 23 m depth and 16.5 m design draft if, compared to its huge 900,000bb storage capacity. This newbuilding will actually be the largest ever delivered by the Spanish builder in terms of capacity despite having constructed several large FPSO units in the past…
