LNG Carrier GDF Suez Point Fortin Repairs Completed

Damen Shiprepair Brest (DSBr) said it has completed a two week maintenance program on the 290-meter, 101,000 GT liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier GDF Suez Point Fortin. WWII Museum’s PT Boat Readies for Passengers

A cadre of volunteers navigate the regulatory labyrinth and a host of safety requirements to bring back to life an enduring symbol the nation’s can-do spirit and resiliency. Early next year, a 78-foot Patrol Torpedo 305 boat, being restored at the National WWII Museum, should be U.S. Coast Guard compliant and ready for passengers. The fast-attack PT-305, equipped with cannons, torpedoes and machine guns, served in the Mediterranean in 1944 and 1945, operating from Bastia, Corsica.

FURUNO Collects Three NMEA Awards

Furuno, a  manufacturer of marine electronics, won three more National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) awards at the prestigious 2013 NMEA Convention in San Diego, Calif. These three awards had Furuno once again leading the total number of awards captured by any one manufacturer this year, as well as bringing Furuno’s NMEA Award all-time total to an incredible 208, since NMEA started presenting awards in 1971.
