Aker Solutions Makes Management Changes

Aker Solutions announced organizational changes in its Subsea and Products & Technologies business areas. It also announced changes in the company's executive management team. The changes involve an integration of Aker Marine Contractors, Aker Well Service and Aker Geo into the Subsea business area. In combination with our ownership and cooperation with Aker Oilfield Services, the new structure will also leverage our well intervention services offering. Until now these business units have been part of the Products & Technologies business area. In addition the drilling riser business will be transferred from Subsea to the Products & Technologies business area to further strengthen our drilling solutions.

Conoco and Aker Kvaerner To Establish DeepWater Composites

Conoco and Aker Kvaerner, part of Kvaerner, the international oil services, engineering and construction, pulp and paper and shipbuilding group, announced the establishment of a new company, DeepWater Composites AS, that will manufacture and sell composite products for use in the deepwater exploration and field development segments of the oil and gas industry. Conoco and Aker Kvaerner will each hold 50-percent interest in Deepwater Composites AS. Conoco and Aker Kvaerner have co-operated under a technology alliance since 1995 to develop, test and qualify two carbon fiber composite products that provide a technological and economic breakthrough to facilitate the exploitation of oil reserves in deep water.

Aker Kvaerner Subsea Tech wins Award

Officials with the 2006 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) have selected Aker Kvaerner's Multibooster subsea boosting technology to win an OTC.06 Spotlight on New Technology Award. The award showcases advanced technologies for the offshore oil and gas industry. Companies exhibiting at this year's OTC submitted entries detailing why their innovative technology should be in the spotlight at OTC. Aker Kvaerner's MultiBooster subsea multiphase pump system increases oil recovery and enables longer step-out distances between subsea assets and host facilities by adding energy to the wellstream which allows for a lower well-head pressure and increased production rates.
