AAL Shipping Delivers Four Cranes to Port of Oslo

Shipping firm AAL Shipping has recently delivered four of the largest rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) in its history to the Port of Oslo, Norway. The mobile cranes, measuring 36 m in height and 28 m in length, were transported from Taicang in China to Oslo on a single sailing aboard the 31,000 deadweight multipurpose vessel (MPV), the AAL Pusan. RCI Brings Two New Ships to Port Canaveral

Royal Caribbean International (RCI)'s Harmony of the Seas and Mariner of the Seas received a “royal” sendoff Monday as they sailed from their new homeport, Port Canaveral.Tugboats provided a water salute as a the 1,188-foot long Harmony, the second-largest cruise ship in the world, glided past hundreds of cheering spectators who gathered at Jetty Park for a “wave-out” event for the Port’s newest arrivals. Onlookers waved bandanas and some held up signs with large letters that spelled out “Bon Voyage.”“We are excited to welcome these two magnificent cruise ships to Port Canaveral and proud of our partnership with Royal Caribbean International.” Port CEO Captain John Murray said.

RCI Cuts Steel on Fifth Oasis Class Ship

Royal Caribbean International (RCI) has celebrated the start of construction of its fifth Oasis class ship at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France."The first steel plate of a new Oasis-Class ship (hull 34)  has been cut today at Chantiers de l’Atlantique machining workshop. Royal Caribbean Orders 3 Ships from STX

Following the delivery of Harmony of the Seas on May 12 in Saint-Nazaire, the American group Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. signed an order for three additional vessels, one for its brand Royal Caribbean International (RCI ) and two brand Celebrity Cruises. ALMACO: New Crew Cabins for RCI Mega Cruis Ships

Press Release -- ALMACO’s Modernization team sailed onboard Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas to perform turnkey deliveries of 17 new crew cabins on deck 2. The scope of work for each of the ships involved the dismantling of the existing crew-dedicated Windjammer, the assembly of the 17 new cabins, new corridors, and the electrical and piping works in line with the physical changes. "The team faced several technical and scheduling challenges with back-to-back projects that had practically overlapping timelines," explained Tommi Virta, Project Manager.

Kalmar, RCI JV Begin Jetty Construction in Taicang, China

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, and Rainbow-Cargotec Industries Co., Ltd (RCI) celebrate the ground breaking of a new jetty at RCI's facilities in Taicang, China today. RCI is a joint venture established in Taicang, Jiangsu Province, China, in 2012 between Cargotec Corporation and Jiangsu Rainbow Heavy Industries. It is responsible for the production of Kalmar rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) and ship-to-shore cranes (STSs) for global markets. Kalmar has decided to invest in a new jetty to increase RCI's import and export capacity with shorter shipping time, higher efficiency, and lower logistics costs. In addition, the new jetty will enable fully erect STS crane deliveries from RCI, which supports Kalmar's STS business growth in the Asia-Pacific region. Dr.

Cargotec Solely owns China Crane

Cargotec and CAG Marine Holding Limited, which is in turn wholly owned by Carlyle Asia Growth Partners IV, L.P. and CAGP IV Coinvestment, L.P., now jointly own China Crane Investment Holdings Limited (China Crane), an investment company, which has owned 18.75% of the shares in Jiangsu Rainbow Heavy Industries Co., Ltd (RHI) as of 18 March 2015. Carlyle has decided to sell their portion of China Crane's stake in RHI and hence exit RHI, and the related transactions have been executed. Cargotec's aggregate ownership in RHI remains unchanged at 9.19% and following Carlyle's exit Cargotec will own 100% of China Crane. Cargotec will continue to account for its ownership in RHI under the equity method as an associated company.

L-3 MSI Supplies Navigation for the Oasis Class

L-3 Marine Systems International (L-3 MSI) has been awarded a contract to provide its NACOS Platinum navigation system, including an integrated dynamic positioning system, for the third ship in Royal Caribbean International’s (RCI) Oasis class, built by STX France at its shipyard in Saint-Nazaire. The 362-meter-long, 227,700-gross-ton ship, with a capacity of 6,360 passengers and a crew of 2,100, will be among the world’s largest cruise liners, together with its sister vessels, the Oasis of the Seas and the Allure of the Seas, and is slated for delivery in spring 2016.

Royal Caribbean International (RCI) cruise line has ended the 'Explorer of the Sea's' 10-day trip in the Caribbean early after hundreds of passengers and crew members were sickened with a gastrointestinal illness, thought to be an outbreak of highly contagious norovirius. "Explorer of the Seas will return home from its 10-day cruise two days early, on Wednesday, Jan. 29, when we will perform a thorough “barrier” sanitization program on the entire ship to make certain that any remaining traces of the illness are eliminated.

The second ship, 'Anthem of the Seas', in the new Quantum class will become the most technologically advanced cruise ship ever to be based in Europe, when it is launched in spring 2015, say owners Royal Caribbean International. The ship's first homeport will be Southampton, UK. The name of the first home port for the 4,108-guest double occupancy Anthem of the Seas – currently being built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany – was revealed at an exclusive event for media and special guests at the Heron Tower in London, UK.

RCI Cruise Ship Propulsion Repairs Necessitate Docking

Owners, of the giant 'Allure of the Seas', Royal Caribbean International say that a mechanical issue obligates performance of unscheduled repairs to their cruise ship 'Allure of the Seas', and the repairs will take place at Grand Bahama Shipyard, in Freeport, Bahamas, the week of February 24, 2014. As a result of coming out of service RCI say it will be necessary to cancel the February 23, 2014, sailing of Allure of the Seas, explaining that the giant cruise ship has been experiencing unanticipated bearing wear in one of its three propulsion motors.

Metro Cruise to Operate Brooklyn Cruise Terminal

Metro Cruise Services LLC entered a four-year agreement with the New York City Economic Development Corp. (NYCEDC), where it has been designated as the sole and exclusive operator of the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal (BCT). This will be the first time in Metro’s company history that marine terminal and stevedore operations will be conducted in the Port of New York. Metro’s cruise brand has grown in the Northeast region in recent years, beginning with the providing of stevedore services in the Port of Boston to Crystal, RCI, Celebrity and Carnival cruise lines.

Royal Caribbean International (RCI) cut the first piece of steel for its third Oasis-class ship, at the STX France Shipyard in Saint Nazarre, marking the first step in the construction of a vessel that, at approximately 227,700 GRT, they say will be the world’s largest cruise ship. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Richard D. Fain and Royal Caribbean International President and CEO, Adam Goldstein together with Laurent Castaing, chief executive officer, STX France, attended the event at the STX shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, where the ship will be built.

China Homeport for RCI Cruise Ship

The largest cruise liner in Asia, 'Mariner of the Seas' docks in new homeport, the Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal in Baoshan District, Shangai. After two months of renovation costing US$20 million, the Mariner of the Seas sailed in April from the United States to Shanghai., informs Shanghai Daily. From June to October, Mariner of the Seas and other cruise ships will  set sail from Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal, with South Korea as the main destination.

Royal Caribbean International announce cancellation of the vessel's next cruise to allow for damage repair in the port of refuge, Freeport, Bahamas. At approximately 3 a.m., Monday, Coast Guard Sector Miami received a report of a fire aboard the Bahamian-flagged cruise ship Grandeur of the Seas carrying 2,224 passengers and 796 crew en route to CoCoCay, Bahamas. The fire began on the third deck of the aft mooring area of the ship and spread to the fourth deck crew lounge area.

Cruise Line RCI Extends Oceans TV Agreement

UK's Oceans TV announce that Royal Caribbean International has extended satellite TV channel agreements for two of the cruise line's ships. The first agreement covers the provision of a wide package of satellite TV channels for Serenade of the Seas whilst it cruises in European and Middle Eastern waters in Winter and Spring 2013. Channels include BBC World News, BBC Entertainment and CNBC Europe for English speaking passengers. Italian cruise lovers can watch Rai News, Rai 1 and Mediaset Italia; TF1 and AB1 are available for French passengers whilst TVE Internacional and RTL Schweiz can be viewed by Spanish and German speakers respectively. The second agreement is for the supply of the TV Globo International satellite TV channel onboard Splendour of the Seas.
