Singapore-based shipowner Vallianz has partnered up with Ulstein Design & Solutions B.V, Shift Clean Energy, and Bureau Veritas to design and build a heavy transport vessel (HTV) that will be "the first of its kind in the global offshore wind industry."The HTV is planned to be deployed for the transportation of structures such as monopiles, jackets, transition pieces and turbine blades to support offshore wind farm projects, as well as heavy structure modules for LNG and carry out floatover operations of offshore structures.

SHI to Build Six Giant Box Ships for Evergreen
South Korean shipbuilding giant Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has signed shipbuilding deals for Taiwanese shipping line Evergreenâs latest ultra-large containerships, valued at a total of USD 920 million.SHI said that the order was placed for the construction of six of the worldâs largest container ships, worldâs largest smart, Eco-friendly mega-ships, with a capacity of 23,000 TEUs, by May 2022. SHI said these newbuildings will be 400 m long, 61.5 m wide, 33.2 m high. Norwegian supplier Hydroniq Coolers has won contracts from Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. (SHI) to deliver the cooling system for the engines of the six LNG-fuelled shuttle tankers the shipbuilder is constructing for Teekay Offshore.As per the contracts, Hydroniq Coolers â formerly named Sperre Coolers â will deliver its Hydroniq Rack seawater cooling solution that is integrated in the hull below the main engine room of the vessels. Konecranes Wins New Order for RTG System from Indonesia
The smart terminal solutions provider Konecranes has received another order for the delivery of an Automated RTG (ARTG) System to PT Prima Terminal Petikemas, a subsidiary of state-owned port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia I (Persero).The ARTG system on order includes 12 ARTG cranes with associated software, interfaces and services, said a press release from the company.The 12 ARTGs will be delivered in January 2020 to Belawan Container Terminal, Phase 2 in Medan, North Sumatra. Becker Mewis Duct Claims Massive CO2 Reduction
Golden Becker Mewis Duct at SMM 2014 claims its top-selling product has already cut CO2 by 900,000 tonnes to date. A golden Becker Mewis Duct with a large '750â in the middle will be one of SMM 2014âs âhead-turnersâ says the manufacturer. âThis is how we are celebrating the 750th unit of our top-selling product,â said Dirk Lehmann, Managing Director of Becker Marine Systems. More than 800 units of the highly efficient nozzle for reducing energy consumption have now been sold. According to Lehmann, âAll of the nozzles delivered thus far have already been able to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 900,000 tonnes.â The million tonne CO2 mark is projected to be exceeded this year.

Westfalia Separators for "Triple E" Class
The Korean company Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has placed an order for a total of 160 separators of the new eagleclass generation with GEA Westfalia Separator Group. They will operate on the twenty unequalled Triple-E container ships of A.P. Moeller Maersk shipping line, which will be launched between the end of 2013 and 2015. The Triple-E class is a new development of superlative in many respects. Every ship will be 400 metres in length, 59 metres in width and 73 meters in height, and can load 18,000 twenty-foot containers. The draft will be around 14.5 metres.
DOE Recognizes NSWC Carderock for Federal Energy and Water Management
The U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) in selected Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Carderock, a Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) field activity, Aug. 18 for the 2008 Federal Energy and Water Management Award. NSWC Carderock is one of two Navy commands to earn the award for its energy efficiency and energy management program in the organization category. "I can't say enough good things about our facilities division, their innovation and dedication," said Capt. Mark W. Thomas, NSWC Carderock Division commander.
