Wärtsilä to Begin Building LNG Terminal in January

Wärtsilä has been given full notice to proceed (NTP) from Manga LNG Oy for the supply of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in Tornio, Northern Finland. Wärtsilä will commence construction on the site near the port of Tornio in January 2015. Manga LNG Oy is a joint venture of Outokumpu Group, Svenskt Stål AB (SSAB), Skangass and EPV Energy Ltd. Wärtsilä initially announced this project in January 2014. The order, valued at approximately EUR 100 million, will be included in Wärtsilä's order intake in December 2014.

Wärtsilä to Proceed with first LNG Terminal

Wärtsilä has been given full notice to proceed (NTP) from Manga LNG Oy for the supply of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in Tornio, Northern Finland. Wärtsilä will commence construction on the site near the port of Tornio in January 2015. Manga LNG Oy is a joint venture of Outokumpu Group, Svenskt Stål AB (SSAB), Skangass and EPV Energy Ltd. Wärtsilä initially announced this project in January 2014. The order, valued at approximately EUR 100 million, will be included in Wärtsilä's order intake in December 2014. The turnkey delivery of the first import terminal supplied by Wärtsilä includes complete unloading, storing and regasification equipment for LNG. The capacity of the LNG storage tank will be 50 000 cubic metres.

GOLAR LNG LIMITED - Further New Building LNG Carriers

Golar LNG Limited ("Golar" or the "Company") is pleased to announce in furtherance of its recent press release regarding new buildings, that it has acquired further firm contracts to build two additional 160,000 m3 LNG carriers with the Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries Co Ltd ("Samsung"). The newbuilding contracts were originally entered into by Companies affiliated with Golar's largest shareholder World Shipholding. Golar has acquired the newbuilding contracts from the affiliated party based on the original contracting terms.

Golar LNG Signs Deal for 4 LNG Ships

Golar LNG Limited is pleased to announce that it has entered into a firm contract to build four 160,000 m3 LNG carrriers with the Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries Co Ltd ("Samsung"). The newbuilding contracts were originally entered into by Companies affiliated with Golar's largest shareholder World Shipholding. Golar has acquired the newbuilding contracts from the affiliated party based on the original contracting terms. Three vessels are to be delivered in 2013 and one in early 2014. The total cost of the four vessels is approximately $800 million.

Hamworthy Supplies Asian FSRU

Hamworthy has secured the contract to supply liquefied natural gas handling technology for what will be Asia’s first Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU). The marine and offshore fluid handling systems specialist has signed a contract with Golar LNG to deliver a liquefied natural gas regasification system for the West Java FSRU, which will be Indonesia's first LNG regasification terminal. In October, Golar LNG Energy announced that it had been selected by PT Nusantara Regas, a joint venture between Pertamina and PGN, to provide the West Java FSRU. The project will see the existing LNG carrier Khannur converted into a floating terminal that can be situated offshore or at a new or purpose-built jetty/pier.

RINA Classes First Offshore LNG FSRU

Genoa-based classification society RINA has taken a lead in the developing market for floating LNG terminals. It has been chosen to class the first offshore Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), and is providing studies and support for a number of further offshore LNG projects, including the newbuilding which is likely to be the world’s second offshore LNG FSRU. Addressing the Mare Forum Houston conference, Massimo Volta, RINA’s General Manager America, said, “Italy leads the world in implementing offshore LNG terminals. We have recently brought the Adriatic LNG terminal on stream, and we have five more live projects for floating and gravity-based offshore LNG terminals around our coasts.

GPA Design For CNG Carrier

Guido Perla & Associates, Inc. (GPA) is providing the design to Sea NG Corp. located in Calgary, Canada, for two additional versions of the Coselle Compressed Natural Gas CNG carrier, based on a similar design which was approved by ABS in September 2006 for construction and will primarily be engaged on international voyages. “CNG carriers are a cost effective, reliable and safe alternative to the traditional ways of transporting natural gas via subsea pipelines or Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carriers,” said Dan Koch, Vice President of Engineering. “When circumstances allow it, pipelines provide the best option for transporting gas over short distances, while Liquefied Natural Gas carriers offer various advantages for large quantities of natural gas to be transported over long distances.
