US National Maritime Security Advisory Committee Appoints New Members

Rowan Reports Fleet Status Following Ike

Rowan Companies has completed an initial aerial survey of its nine rigs in the . All of the Company's rigs were on location, with the exception of the Rowan-Anchorage. The Company is undertaking efforts to locate the rig but believes it may have capsized and sunk at its pre-storm location offshore . All appropriate regulatory agencies have been notified. In addition, Rowan's facility encountered a significant storm surge and is expected to be out of commission for some time. The Company's newbuild jack-up, Rowan-Mississippi, which is stationed there for final outfitting, was apparently struck by another vessel during the storm. The Company's initial assessment is that the damage is limited and should not delay the rig's scheduled delivery.

HSR Completes Rig Upgrades for Global Marine

The Offshore Division of Houston Ship Repair, Inc. (HSR) has recently completed two major rig upgrades for Global Marine Drilling Company. HSR was selected as the primary contractor for the re-powering and mud system enhancement stages of the Glomar Baltic I upgrade project. The Marathon LeTourneau Super 300 jackup drilling rig was re-powered with five Caterpillar type 3516 TA V, 1,305 kW diesel generator sets, replacing the three existing EMD diesel engine driven 1,400 kW generators. HSR was also contracted to replace the two existing National 12-P-160 mud pumps with three National 14-P-220 mud pumps. HSR removed the existing generator and mud pump units…
