Fincantieri to Build Logistic Support Ship for Italian Navy in $462M Deal

Fincantieri-led consortium Raggruppamento Temporaneo di Impresa (RTI) has won a contract to build a second Logistic Support Ship (LSS) for the Italian Navy, which also includes the option for a third ship.The consortium signed the contract with OCCAR (Organisation Conjointe de Cooperation sur l’Armement) the international organization for joint armament cooperation.The LSS will be fully built at the Castellammare di Stabia shipyard in Italy, with delivery scheduled for 2025. The value of the contract is around  410 million euros ($462,3 million) including the combat system.

Italian Coast Guard Orders New Multi-mission Ship

Canada to Roll Out First Propane Export Terminal

Royal Vopak and AltaGas have entered into a joint venture and will invest together in the development of the Ridley Island Propane Export Terminal (RIPET). RIPET is expected to be the first propane export facility off the west coast of Canada. The project is to be designed to ship 1.2 million tonnes of propane per annum, with approximately 96,000 cubic meters of storage capacity. The facility is expected to be commissioned in Q1 2019. Vopak will take a 30 percent interest in RIPET. Vopak's investment is underpinned by long-term customer contracts and  is fully aligned with Vopak's long-term strategy where storage and handling of gas has been earmarked as one of the strategic focus areas.

Finalists Complete for $2 Mln Wave Energy Prize

U.S. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced that nine teams have been named finalists in the Wave Energy Prize—a 20-month design-build-test competition—and will proceed to the next phase of the competition. The nine finalists and two alternates, identified from the 17 remaining official qualified teams, will continue their quest to double the energy captured from ocean waves and win a prize purse totaling more than $2 million. Each of the finalists and alternates will now receive seed funding from DOE to develop 1/20th scale models of their wave energy converter (WEC) technologies. Fincantieri, Finmeccanica in Part Renewal of Italian Navy fleet

As part of the renewal of the fleet of the Navy, The first tranche has been launched in recent months, OCCAR (Organisation de Cooperation Conjointe sur l'Armement, the international organization for cooperation armaments) has ordered an additional Multipurpose Offshore Patrol (PPA) to the temporary consortium (RTI), formed between Fincantieri, the agent, and Finmeccanica, through principal Selex ES, activating the option contract and uniting the production in a ' single phase, thus made ​​immediately operational. Fincantieri, Finmeccanica Win Italian Navy LHD Contract

KBR Completes DeepStar Ultra Deepwater Study

KBR recently completed a conceptual engineering study of a Spar/Deep Draft Caisson Vessel (DDCV) in 10,000 ft. water depth in the Gulf of Mexico. The six-month study was sponsored and funded by the Joint Industry Project DeepStar, which is supported by 15 oil company participants and 48 other contributor companies. KBR is the wholly owned engineering and construction subsidiary of Halliburton. The primary objectives of the study were to assess credible technology alternatives for mooring systems and production risers for a large ultra-deepwater DDCV, and to quantify the total system cost incentives for pursuing synthetic moorings and composite production risers.
