Final Marquette Z-drive Towboat from Master Marine

In December, Marquette Transportation Co. took delivery of a new 2,000-hp Z-drive towboat from Master Marine, Inc., Bayou La Batre, Ala. The 78'x 34’x11' St. Matthias was designed by Entech Designs, La. for Marquette’s river division, based in Paducah, Ky. The vessel features increased crew capacity of nine personnel in five staterooms with 3.5 bathrooms. The steel-hulled St. Matthias is powered by a pair of Thompson Power Systems Caterpillar C32 Tier 3 1,000-hp engines at 1,800 rpm connected to ZF Marine ZF AT 5111WM-FP Z-drives with 1,650 mm (65") four-bladed propellers in nozzles.

Marquette Transportation Co. has taken delivery of a new 2,000-hp Z-drive towboat from Master Marine, Inc., Bayou La Batre, Ala. The 78' x 34’ x11' vessel, St. Bartholomew, was designed by Entech Designs, La. for Marquette’s river division, based in Paducah, Ky. The steel-hulled St. Bartholomew is powered by a pair of Thompson Power Systems Caterpillar C32 Tier 3 1,000-hp engines at 1,800 rpm connected to ZF Marine ZF AT 5111WM-FP Z-drives with 1,650 mm (65") four-bladed propellers in nozzles. The package gives the boat a running speed of 10 knots with a loaded draft of 8’.

7th Z-drive Towboat from Master Marine

In February, Marquette Transportation Co. took delivery of a new 2,000-hp Z-drive towboat from Master Marine, Inc., Bayou La Batre, Alabama. The 78'x 34’x11' St. Phillip was designed by Entech & Associates, for Marquette’s Gulf-Inland division, based in Harahan, La. The steel-hulled St. Phillip is powered by a pair of Thompson Power Systems Caterpillar C32 Tier 3 1,000-hp engines at 1,800 rpm connected to ZF Marine ZF AT 5111WM-FP Z-drives with 1,650 mm (65") 4-bladed propellers in nozzles. The package gives the boat a running speed of 10 knots with a loaded draft of 8’. For ship’s service power the towboat is outfitted with a pair of Kennedy Engine John Deere 4045AFM85 Tier 3 generator drive engines each driving an 80-kW Marathon Mariner generators.

St. Peter was designed by Frank Basile of Entech & Associates, Houma, La., for Marquette’s Gulf-Inland division, based in Harahan, La. Master Marine is continuing to build Z-drive towboats, with more underway for Marquette, said the yard’s president Randy Orr. The company has continued to expand its workforce and production capabilities to handle the increasing demands of its customers.

News: Fifth Cape Fear Class Crew Boat

Construction is underway of the fifth in the series of "Cape Fear" class crew boats, with the latest version a custom vessel is being built Chesapeake Yachts at his 54 acre facility in Chesapeake, Va. Eminating from the design house of Industrial Object, David Carambat, president, said, "The Cape Fear crew boat is a speedy craft weighing in at an amazingly efficient 42,000 lbs. With twin Caterpillar 3176's, this lean, rugged machine boasts a speed of 31.7 knots at 80 percent MCR (Maximum Continuous Power) with fully enclosed prop shafts!" "This design brings economy and reliability to our client's bottom line. Every element of a Cape Fear boat is geared toward performance and durability," said Carambat.

SeaArk Delivers Commander to Passaic Valley

SeaArk Marine, Monticello, Ark., delivered its 27 ft. all-welded aluminum Commander model to the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commissioners of Newark, N.J. Named R.V. Passaic River, the vessel will be utilized for water quality sampling and general environmental clean-up work in the Passaic River and in Newark Bay - in addition to utilization for educational purposes. The vessel boasts a deep-vee hull, which provides proven performance and a smooth, dry ride, as well as SeaArk's standard 25 ft. hull stretched to 27 ft., allowing additional room for equipment on the recessed rear deck. A fully enclosed and insulated cabin was also extended to house two bench seats/storage boxes and a worktable, as well as two pilot seats.
