Satellite communications solutions firm Marlink has signed a strategic agreement with NORMA Cyber to strengthen the cybersecurity intelligence and resilience of its maritime customer base.The Norwegian Maritime Cyber Resilience Centre (NORMA Cyber) is a joint venture between risk insurance provider Den Norske Krigsforsikring for Skib (DNK) and the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association. NORMA Cyber provides centralized cybersecurity services to Norwegian shipowners and other entities and aims to be the leading hub for operational cyber security efforts within the national maritime sector.

Voyager IP Launches Prepaid VSAT and IT Scheme

A new scheme by marine broadband solutions company Voyager IP aims to alter the way customers can keep track of their VSAT and IT support services. The Irish-based company has launched a points-based system where customers will be able to purchase service and support credits in advance and draw down on them as and when required. Up until now, ship owners and management companies typically signed yearly VSAT and IT support service contracts that did not allow for refunds or credit if the service was not fully utilized in that time period. The company says the scheme was born out of customer feedback and is in line with similar offerings available in the onshore ICT sector.

Voyager IP Wins Irish Navy Satellite Contract

Voyager IP, the Irish marine telecoms solutions specialist, has partnered with the Irish National Space Center to win a €500,000 contract to manage the entire satellite communications service for the Irish Naval Fleet at home and abroad. Voyager IP will provide the satellite airtime, technical assistance for the onboard systems and a 24 hour helpdesk from its base in Wicklow, while the National Space Center will provide the satellite network infrastructure.
