Top Speed For Your Maritime Charts

SevenCs has just released a brand new software tool called TMS ChartServer which is running on a high performance “Tile Map Service” technology. It allows users of maritime web and mobile applications – e.g. Fleet Monitoring, Vessel Tracking, and Surveying – to display maritime charts at top speed: no matter if full global chart coverage is needed or just a smaller area of interest. SevenCs GmbH is located in Hamburg, and for decades has been “the Expert” in developing maritime software applications.

SevenCs Supports MariGreen Project

SevenCs is part of the EU INTERREG V A cross-border project “MariGreen” to support the maritime industry in the transition towards more efficient, greener and more sustainable shipping. The MariGreen project develops innovations for greener and low-emission shipping and supports in particular small and medium enterprises. There are 12 innovation projects behind "MariGreen" that are dealt with by a total of 59 partners located in the Netherlands and Germany. Alternative fuel for ships, Wind Energy Systems for freight and passenger shipping, improvement of logistics operations, resource-efficient ship operations and safety issues in nautical education and training are among the main topics. SevenCs engages in the MariGreen work stream “Wind propulsion in commercial shipping”.

CEACT Allows Operators to REACT

How updated electronic navigation practices improve safety and efficiency – and optimize cargo movement – on US inland waterways. It was a cold winter night. Heavy gusts and snow did not allow safe navigation and forced the ships on the upper Mississippi to secure alongside the few remaining jetties. Safety is the key issue for all river transport companies but at the same time efficiency and timely delivery of valuable goods is of utmost importance. It was 1999 and an American navigation pioneer – Greg Dunkle – had realized the potential of electronic chart systems.

CEACT River Navigation Software Updated

SevenCs and CEACT Information Systems Inc. have announced the latest development of their inland navigation system CEACTTM. The new version includes two new major functionalities. The new version will be available in November 2012. Multiple CPA enables the user to track several AIS targets simultaneously. The operator can toggle between the most relevant targets without re-acquiring. Dangerous targets don’t get lost and the situational awareness is significantly improved. The second functionality not only improves safety, but also allows the user to save fuel.

German Pilots Choose SevenCs Software

German Pilot Associations choose SevenCs to Develop Portable Pilot Unit Software. Five German Pilot Associations for the Elbe, Emden, Hamburg, Jade/Weser II and Kiel Canal I (Brunsbüttel)  have chosen Hamburg-based maritime navigation specialists SevenCs GmbH to supply their Orca Pilot Portable Pilot Unit (PPU) software. At the same time, SevenCs, in conjunction with the Pilots, will develop new next generation PPU software, and deliver training to all the associations’ 625 pilots. Dutch-Belgian-Trading GmbH acquires SevenCs GmbH and ChartWorld GmbH

Dutch-Belgian-Trading GmbH (DBT) has acquired Hamburg based SevenCs GmbH and ChartWorld GmbH from Admiralty Holdings Limited (AHL), a wholly-controlled subsidiary of the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO). Mr. Jochen Rudolph, Managing Director of DBT, said: “DBT has exciting and ambitious plans to develop a completely new concept for integrated ECDIS and digital chart data services aimed at the SOLAS retrofit market. At the same time as announcing the acquisition  of ChartWorld and SevenCs, Mr. Rudolph also announced that DBT are currently recruiting new staff – especially in sales - and will shortly be opening new offices in Singapore and Cyprus to provide sales, service and support for the Asian and Mediterranean markets.

Navionics & Sevencs Join Forces

Navionics S.p.A. of Viareggio, Italy, and SevenCs GMBH of Hamburg, Germany, announce that they have joined forces to produce and distribute electronic charts for the commercial shipping market.Merging Navionics' extensive database with SevenCs' technology, the companies created a new database compliant with the IMO-IHO S57.3 technical standards, as required by large commercial vessels and professional mariners. Both companies will begin distribution of the new product in December 2001. The introductory offering will present full coverage of Europe and North America, and worldwide coverage will be available sometime in 2002. Gert Büttgenbach, Technical Director of SevenCs, explained, "We are very excited about our new relationship with Navionics.
