Port Of Los Angeles & MBDA at USC Team Up to Promote Trade

The Port of Los Angeles and the U.S. Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency (MDBA) Center at the University of Southern California will be holding a FREE “Trade Connect” export workshop August 26, 2014 at USC’s Galen Center. The event will focus on providing information, tools and tips for fashion, garment, health and beauty product companies interested in promoting and exporting their products overseas. “Los Angeles is home to thousands of small- and medium-sized fashion, garment, health and beauty businesses that make products with great potential for export markets,” said Los Angeles City Councilman Curren Price Jr.…

Port Launches World Trade Partnership on National Maritime Day

Trade partners in Ventura County joined forces at the Port of Hueneme to kick off a program celebrating World Trade Month. The Port timely hosted this event on National Maritime Day. Participating were representatives from the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Foreign Commercial Service, the District Export Council of Southern California, the Economic Development Collaborative of Ventura County and the Small Business Development Center the announce a robust partnership under the World Trade Center of Oxnard. The launch of this partnership promises to build strategic networks with the business community and economic development teams to create new avenues for businesses to tap international markets.

Louisiana Economic Development Offer Gulf Opportunity Zone Workshops

Louisiana Economic Development, local economic development organizations and federal agencies are combining forces to host free Gulf Opportunity (GO) Zone Workshops in five Louisiana communities. The seminars will offer local business owners, developers and practitioners a detailed view of how to take advantage of the post-hurricane incentive package. Experts from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and other state and local agencies will inform participants on the tax breaks and bonding options available under the GO Zone Act. These workshops will be particularly valuable for small businesses that may not have considered GO Zone incentives to help restore or expand their companies.
