Swiss offshore services firm Allseas is planning to build a vessel big enough to be able to remove the world's largest oil and gas platforms when they reach the end of their production lives, its chief executive said. Statoil has awarded two new, long-term contracts with estimated value of NOK 11 billion for insulation, scaffolding and surface treatment services to Beerenberg Corp AS and Prezioso Linjebygg AS. They will provide services to 20 of the company’s 29 installations on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS) when the contracts take effect. Carried out on all installations on the NCS, as well as all onshore plants in Norway, these services have ripple effects in many parts of the country. Taking effect in the first quarter of 2016, the contracts have an estimated total value of NOK 11 billion over the 15-year contract period. The two new contracts will replace the company’s existing contracts with these two suppliers regarding NCS services.

Norway's Statoil has stopped all oil loadings from the Statfjord A platform in the North Sea after an oil spill occurred on Sunday, the company said on Monday, with no impact on production from the platform. "We had a minor leak while preparing to load on Sunday," said Statoil spokesman Morten Eek, who said that some 400 litres of crude had spilled. Sunday's leak is the second one in less than three weeks to occur at the platform. On Oct. 8, a spill shut loadings from one of two buoys. The latest spill shut loadings from the other buoy tankers could load from.

At 1148 GMT, Brent crude futures were up 92 cents at $60.97 a barrel, off an earlier high of $61.75. U.S. crude was up 78 cents at $48.95 a barrel. Both contracts tumbled on Thursday, with U.S. crude falling hardest. Brent is trading at a premium of about $12 to U.S. crude, which remains hamstrung by massive inventory builds. Norwegian oil and gas producer Statoil is moving some workers off seven North Sea platforms in anticipation of a weekend storm, but production should not be affect, a spokesman said on Friday. "We are partly unmanning the Statfjord B and C, Troll B, Snorre B, Veslefrikk, Huldra and Heimdal platforms, but production should not be affected," Statoil spokesman Oerjan Heradstveit said. Statoil did not say how many workers would be moved. Wind speeds could reach hurricane levels of 35-45 metres per second, resulting in 10-12 metre high waves, the Norwegian meteorological institute said. The storm will also hit Norway's southwestern coast were several gas processing plants are located, potentially disrupting power supply across the region.

Schlumberger Norway has been awarded a contract with Statoil to provide integrated drilling services for the Norwegian continental shelf licenses Gullfaks, Gullfaks Satellites, Snorre, Statfjord , Tordis/Vigdis, Visund. The agreement also covers exploration drilling on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS). Taking effect on 1 September 2014 the contract has a value of NOK 1.15 billion for an initial duration of two years. The contract also has three optional extensions, each for two years. The contract will provide jobs for some 350 people in Schlumberger Norway over the next two years. Services under the agreement include the delivery of directional drilling, measurement while drilling (MWD), logging while drilling (LWD) and mud logging services.

RWE Dea Norge AS, operator of production licence (PL)420, is completing drilling operations on appraisal well 35/9-11-S and sidetrack 35/9-11-A on the Titan discovery, 16 kilometres west of the Gjøa Field in the North Sea. The purpose of the well was to delineate the Titan discovery towards the south and to reduce the uncertainties in reservoir thicknesses and reservoir properties. With the appraisal well, oil was proven in the Heather Formation, the Brent Group, the Drake Formation, the Cook Formation and the Statfjord Formation. RWE Dea Norge carried out extensive data collection and sampling of the reservoir, including five so-called mini-DSTs.

North Sea crude premiums held strong on Tuesday, supported by solid demand from Shell, and traders said the market for June-loading cargos could remain strong due to tighter supply. Loading programmes for North Sea crude in June have started to be issued this week and traders say summer maintenance work at oilfields and other infrastructure could tighten supplies. "That could keep differentials supported," said one. Output at the Buzzard oilfield appears to have recovered after a cutback last month, which trimmed supply of Forties and led to a spate of loading delays for cargoes in April and May. The field was pumping at normal rate of around 200,000 barrels per day on Tuesday, an industry source said.

At 7:25 a.m. on April 7, Statoil and its partners (GDF SUEZ and OMV) started production on the Gudrun oil and gas field in the North Sea. "Gudrun is the first new Statoil-operated platform to come on stream on the Norwegian continental shelf since 2005. GE Oil & Gas was awarded a contract to provide Korean shipbuilding firm Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) with turbomachinery equipment and services for a new oil and gas production platform being built to support the production activities of Statoil Petroleum AS and its partners Total S.A. and Det Norske in the Gina Krog field in the Norwegian North Sea. Gina Krog (previously known as Dagny) is located 30 kilometers (km) northwest of the Sleipner field and approximately 250 km southwest of Stavanger, Norway. The development of Gina Krog will be among Statoil's major new developments with an estimated 225 million barrels of oil and gas. For the project, GE is supplying DSME with an integrated topside turbomachinery solution featuring products from several GE businesses.

Aker Solutions wins a Statoil four-year frame agreement to supply wireline tractor services on the Norwegian continental shelf. The wireline tractor can push well intervention equipment several kilometres along highly deviated and horizontal wells. It has eliminated the need for more heavily equipped and costly well conveyance methods, thereby significantly reducing both operational costs and HSE risk. Statoil has exercised a two-year contract option with Aker Solutions for provision of mechanical wireline services on Statoil operated fields and mobile drilling units on the Norwegian continental shelf. The initial three-year contract period started in 2009. Statoil has now exercised the first of two potential two-year contract options. Aker Solutions estimates that the two-year contract extension will generate revenues of between NOK 700-800 million. The contract will occupy around 400 employees, of which approximately 60 per cent will be supporting Statoil offshore.
