Aker Solutions Opens Malaysia Base

International oil services company Aker Solutions has expanded its subsea business by establishing a subsea lifecycle service base in Labuan, Malaysia. The objective is to support all installed and future shallow and deepwater projects within the Asia Pacific region. The new service base, which is located in Labuan Federal Territory in Eastern Malaysia, will provide strategic and effective support services for Aker Solutions' onshore and offshore oil and gas customers. Aker Solutions Wins Major Contract in Malaysia

Aker Solutions has been awarded a contract by Murphy Sabah Oil for the delivery of a subsea production system for the Siakap North - Petai deepwater development. Contract value is undisclosed. The scope of work includes 13 subsea trees, eight manifolds, well jumpers, engineering for topside controls and lifecycle support services. The first hardware delivery is scheduled for Q1 2013. Drilling Riser Contract to Aker Kvaerner

Aker Kvaerner has won a contract for the delivery of a complete deepwater marine drilling riser system with buoyancy package and associated equipment. The client, who is undisclosed, has also signed an agreement to buy an additional buoyancy package for a drilling riser system it purchased from Aker Kvaerner in 2007. Total contract value is approximately USD 50 million. The marine drilling riser system, to be used for a drillship, will come at a length of 7500 feet. It will be manufactured and delivered out of Aker Kvaerner's subsea manufacturing centre in . Delivery is scheduled for Q2 2010. Buoyancy modules will be manufactured by Phoenix Polymers International, a company which Aker Kvaerner acquired a controlling 50 per cent stake in June 2007.
