Semco, PTSC M&C JV to Delivers Substations for Hai Long Offshore Wind Projects

Semco Maritime and PTSC M&C consortium has been selected by Hai Long Offshore Wind Project in Taiwan as the Preferred Supplier for two offshore substations for the Hai Long 2 and Hai Long 3 offshore wind projects.The projects will be established off the Taiwanese coast and deliver more than 1 GW of green wind energy when the projects are commissioned in 2025-2026."The contract represents the largest offshore substations contract awarded in a Taiwanese project to date. Tech File: Rolls-Royce Delivers 16-cylinder Version of mtu Series 8000 Engines

Rolls-Royce has delivered the first 16-cylinder engines of the mtu Series 8000, two 16V 8000 M71L engines built for the Taiwanese shipyard CSBC Corporation to power new patrol vessels for the Taiwanese Coast Guard. The two engines deliver 7,280 kW of power each and will accelerate the 1000-ton class vessels to up to 24 knots. A total of six vessels of this class will be built with mtu engines, and the engines will be delivered by the end of 2022. Rolls-Royce said it has also already sold an additional 20 engines of the new type to a second customer.

Taiwan Offshore Wind Farm Research Project

GL Garrad Hassan signs MOU with Taiwanese Industrial Technology Research Institute to develop Taiwan's offshore energy strategy. The offshore wind resource around the Taiwanese coast is considered excellent, with more than 6,000MW potential capacity at water depths of less than 50m. Earlier this year the Taiwanese government announced an extensive plan to speed up the deployment of offshore wind farm and promote green energy economics. Beginning with a demonstration project in 2015, offshore installation is planned to ramp up over the coming years and reach 1000 turbines and 3000MW by 2030.
