San Juan, Puerto Rico - Crowley Maritime Corporation’s liner services group and Puerto Rico Teamsters Union Local 901 have reached an agreement on a new five-year labor contract covering union employees working at Crowley’s San Juan terminal. The new contract is effective from March 27, 2012, through March 26, 2017. “This new agreement continues Crowley’s commitment to the trade and our long-term desire to grow and reinvest in the services we provide to our customers in Puerto Rico and the U.S.,” said John Douglass, senior vice president and general manager, Puerto Rico and Caribbean services. Crowley has operated in Puerto Rico since 1954. During that time, it has developed a strong and lasting relationship with the Puerto Rico community and its union team members.

American Commercial Lines Inc. (NASDAQ: ACLI) (ACL) announced that on December 15, its Manufacturing Division, Jeffboat, accomplished the safety milestone of working two million hours without a lost time injury (an injury requiring time off from work) for the first time in its more than 70 years of operation. The shipyard has reached one million hours worked without a lost time injury twice in its history, most recently in June 2009. While Jeffboat has continually decreased injuries since 2004, it continues to implement new safety programs, including providing additional training to employees and conducting detailed investigations to identify root causes of injuries and implement corrective actions. American Commercial Lines Inc. (NASDAQ:ACLI) announced that its manufacturing division, Jeffboat, and Teamsters Local Union No. 89 have received the 16th annual Labor-Management Award from the University of Louisville Labor-Management Center. The award, which honors an area workplace in which management and labor have demonstrated cooperative relations, was presented at the Labor-Management Center 2009 Award Banquet held on April 16. Jeffboat LLC announced that it has submitted to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local No. 89 a comprehensive last, best and final offer relating to the terms of employment of the approximately 750 shipyard workers employed at the company's Jeffersonville, Ind. facility. Officials from Local 89 told Jeffboat management that the measure would be put to a vote of union members on Sunday, May 5, 2002. The current labor contract between Jeffboat and Local 89 expired at midnight on April 29, 2002, at which time Jeffboat employees elected to go out on strike. American Commercial Lines Inc. announced that the company has secured a three year agreement for its shipyard employees with the General Drivers, Warehousemen & Helpers (Teamsters), Local Union No. 89. The three year agreement, which was ratified by over 95% of the voters, provides for first year wage increases ranging from 5% to 18% for various job positions resulting in an overall average wage increase of approximately 11%.

American Commercial Lines Inc. announced plans to increase wage rates for hourly production and maintenance employees at the Company’s Jeffersonville, Indiana manufacturing facility by an average of approximately 11% this year, including a more than 15% wage increase for certified welders. The Company’s proposal increases the hourly wage rate for certified welders to $19.50 per hour. This new wage plan was presented to General Drivers, Warehousemen & Helpers (Teamsters), Local Union No. 89 as part of a comprehensive bargaining proposal. Implementation will occur when a new collective bargaining agreement is ratified. The Company is engaged in negotiations with Local 89 for a new labor agreement at the Jeffersonville facility. The current agreement expires on April 1, 2007.
