Carnival to Update Entire Fleet's Internet Service

WiFi@Sea high-speed network will combine land-based systems and advanced satellite connectivity designed to give passengers faster, more stable and powerful internet service at sea. With connectivity speeds that can be roughly 10 times faster than ever before, passengers will be able to share their cruise experience via Internet, email and social media in real time. Carnival Corporation & plc has unveiled a hybrid wireless network – a high-speed service to eventually be rolled out to all 101 of its ships on all nine of its brands.

Colfax Names Bramstång Sales Director

Colfax Fluid Handling, a business of Colfax Corporation and company in fluid-handling solutions for critical applications, has named Carl-Henrik Bramstång Sales Director, Shipowner Sales. His new role will include the sales efforts for the company’s latest technology breakthrough, the Smart Technology CM-1000 Series, an intelligent controller for sea water cooling systems. Bramstång is a seasoned sales professional with almost 30 years of experience, including 22 years in various sales positions of increasing responsibility with Colfax Fluid Handling.

Technology Breakthrough in Offshore Wind Design Analysis

Previously there has been no single software tool available on the market that covers both wind turbine and substructure design analysis in one analysis package. Now Fedem Technology and DNV Software have joined forces with a new coupled analysis module available in Sesam Wind – used when performance of the wind turbine is influenced by wave loading. The offshore wind turbine industry will benefit from this new and innovative, user-friendly software solution including dynamic simulations, advanced fatigue calculation and code check in one complete analysis package.
