SWS Building Cruise Ship for CSSC, Carnival JV

China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) subsidiary Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co. Ltd (SWS) has started hull construction for the first cruise ship that it is building for CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping Limited, joint venture between Carnival Corporation and CSSC.The new vessel, scheduled for delivery in 2023, will accommodate about 4,250 passengers, in addition to 1,400 crew members. It is said to be the first cruise ship built in China for the Chinese market.A joint venture set up by Italian shipbuilding group Fincantieri and CSSC Cruise Technology Development Co.

China Cruising: Carnival Corp Launches China JV

Carnival Corporation & plc (NYSE/LSE: CCL; NYSE: CUK), has announced that its cruise joint venture with China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) will launch this week under the name CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping Limited. The new China-based cruise company plans to operate its own fleet to serve Chinese cruise guests by the end of 2019.CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping Limited announced an agreement to purchase two existing ships from Carnival Corporation’s Costa Group, the leading cruise operator in Europe and Asia.

Foster Wheeler 2Q, 2014 Results

Foster Wheeler AG (Nasdaq: FWLT) today reported income from continuing operations for the second quarter of 2014 of $85.6 million, or $0.85 per diluted share, compared with $68.3 million, or $0.68 per diluted share, in the second quarter of 2013. Income from continuing operations in both quarterly periods was impacted by net asbestos-related gains and provisions, as detailed in an attached table. Excluding such items from both quarterly periods, adjusted income from continuing operations in the second quarter of 2014 was $86.8 million, or $0.86 per diluted share, compared with $54.6 million, or $0.54 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter.

BP Shares Deepwater Well-capping Expertise

Under the Technology License Agreement, BP will make available technical information that PEMEX E&P can use. Petroleos Mexicanos Exploration and Production (PEMEX E&P) and BP's agreement is for the latter to share the technical information it used to build its own global deepwater well-capping equipment. Under the Technology License Agreement, BP will make available technical information that PEMEX E&P, one of four subsidiaries of PEMEX, can use, in addition to PEMEX E&P initiatives already in place, if it decides to build and maintain its own well capping system for use in Mexican waters of the Gulf of Mexico. In addition, BP has agreed to conduct workshops in Houston to brief PEMEX E&P on the technical information and operational aspects of the system…

Landmark LNG Carrier Launched by IZAR

To great fanfare, Iñigo Tapias, the new 138,000 cu. m. liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier was launched on January 29 by IZAR's Sestao yard in Bilbao. The ship — standing in testament to the 1,213 workers at Sestao who physically made the ship a reality as well as the underlying strength of the IZAR company — is a highly significant one for many reasons, both technical and business. The 933-ft. (284.4-m), 19.5 knot ship embodies the hopes of a shipbuilding nation that is seeking to re-establish its presence in the LNG niche that it has not occupied for more than three decades, as the production of gas ships generally lays in the hands of Far East builders today.
