Turkish Port Installs Navis N4 TOS

Navis, a part of Cargotec Corporation, announced that Yılport Holding Inc. will roll out Navis’ Compass visual workflow management application to five terminals that use Navis N4 to bring enhanced visibility, communication and collaboration to the planning process across terminals.The Compass application digitizes the workflow and standardizes the way terminals work to improve the quality of the planning and tracking process to improve the terminal’s efficiency.The Compass application is easy to implement, with multiple deployment options suitable for every terminal, and utilizes the Navis Smart technology to unlock vast amounts of data…

Hess sells Shannon LNG Terminal

New York-based energy company Hess has sold Shannon LNG, a proposed gas-import terminal in County Kerry, Ireland’s Sunday Independent has reported. The newspaper did not name the buyer for the site. The identity of the new owner of the proposed liquefied natural gas terminal on the Tarbert-Ballylongford landbank and their plans are not yet clear. Shannon LNG aimed to import LNG through southwest Ireland. However the €600 million (US$671 million) venture had yet to start construction and it is unclear whether the buyer of the site and its planning permissions will press ahead with the project. Hess’ planned 3 million tonne a year (mta) terminal featured up to four LNG-storage tanks, each with capacity for 200,000mᶾ and a jetty big enough to handle 266,000mᶾ Q-max LNG carriers.

Moffatt & Nichol Hires Chief Software Architect

Brian Yoder has joined Moffatt & Nichol as Chief Software Architect at its Long Beach, Calif. office to help manage the software product development of FlexTerm, a simulation and emulation tool developed mainly for the container terminal planning, the terminal operating system testing, the logistic system modeling and optimization in ports and terminals. The software allows for better analysis of dynamic processes and visualization of operational processes through 3D animations.

DP World’s flagship Jebel Ali Port has been recognized for excellence in container terminal operations at the first ever Navis Inspire Awards 2015. HE Sultan Ahmad Bin Sulayem, Chairman of DP World said the industry prize underlined the global marine terminal operator’s customer centric approach, innovation, process excellence and commitment of its employees. Bin Sulayem’s comments were made in a special event held in Dubai to celebrate the award and to congratulate DP World’s UAE Region team for the achievement.

Moffatt & Nichol, Jasper Ocean Terminal Port

Moffatt & Nichol has begun Program Management services on the initial development stages of planning for the Jasper Ocean Terminal proposed to be located on the Savannah River. The project is a cooperative development between the states of Georgia and South Carolina. Program Management services started in January 2009, with initial efforts focused on a two-year schedule of completing the preliminary terminal planning, preparing for the overall permitting process for the development and completion of documents to support design and construction of the terminal elements. Bethea to Lead Jasper Port Board

Members of the bi-state board leading the development of a deepwater port in Jasper County unanimously elected William L. Bethea Jr. of Hilton Head, South Carolina, to chair the Jasper Ocean Terminal Joint Project Office (JPO) on Feb. The chairman serves a one-year term and alternates between the two states. James S. Balloun of Georgia served as JPO chairman in 2008 and was elected vice chairman at the meeting. Bethea served for 12 years on the South Carolina State Ports Authority (SCSPA) Board, four of those years as chairman, and has served on the South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development. “This project is vitally important to the economic future of our region and the state of South Carolina,” said Bethea.

Mannelly Promoted to Director of Port Planning at Tacoma

The Port of Tacoma has promoted Brian Mannelly to Director of Port Planning. In this position, he oversees Port capital improvement projects, including terminal design and facilities development. In addition, he is responsible for long-range Port planning, road and rail system planning and policy Mannelly joined the Port in 2005 as a Planning Specialist and was promoted to Manager of Terminal Planning in 2007. He was previously employed in private engineering consulting by Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. (VHB) of Boston.
