Leviathan Partners to Start Drilling in Q1 2017

The Leviathan reservoir partners announced on Sunday their plans to begin drilling a new well in the basin during the first quarter of next year, reports The Jerusalem Post. The partners announced today that work will commence in the first quarter of 2017 and a budget of $77 million has been allocated for the drilling. The first stage of the Leviathan drilling will begin immediately after completion of the drilling for the Tamar 8 gas field. The Leviathan partners are Noble Energy Inc.(39.66%) Delek Group Ltd. units Avner Oil and Gas LP and Delek Drilling LP (22.67% each) and Ratio Oil Exploration (15%). The Petroleum Commissioner in Israel’s Ministry of National Infrastructures, Energy and Water Resources approved the Leviathan development plan in June.

Men Firing at Suez Canal Container Ship Video

The Youtube clip carries a logo featuring a black Islamist flag & the name of the "al-Firqan Brigade and shows two men firing rocket propelled grenades at a passing COSCO container ship. The incident had minimal effect on the ship or on canal traffic. Any major assault on the canal would hurt Egypt's economy, which depends heavily on revenue from the 192-km (120 mile) waterway, the quickest sea route between Asia and Europe, reports The Jerusalem Post. After the canal attack, the army said three people had been arrested for firing machine guns at the ship. The head of the Canal Authority, Mohab Memish, later stated that an RPG had been used. Force to receive 2 more advanced German Dolphin-class submarines in 2014, and a long range air defense system, in an unprecedented upgrade, reports the Jerusalem Post. The navy has been working with Israeli defense companies to develop a range of sea and underwater combat technologies, from radars to electronic warfare capabilities. Despite budget cuts, the IDF is in the midst of a multi-year force buildup process, and the navy is going through an unprecedented phase marked by weapons upgrades, reports the Jerusalem Post, citing Navy sources.
