Cracked Muffler Led to Towboat Fire -NTSB

Cracks in a muffler and the substantial use of combustible materials in accommodation spaces led to a fire aboard a towing vessel last year on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway near Freeport, Texas, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said Thursday.On June 25, 2022, the four-person crew aboard the towing vessel Mary Dupre departed Port Comfort, Texas, for Houston, pushing a single barge loaded with bio-diesel fuel. The following day, a fire broke out, leading to a total loss of the vessel, which was estimated at $1 million.

Moose Boats to Build Fireboat for Bellingham

Moose Boats, a boat designer and manufacturer in the San Francisco Bay Area, has been awarded a contract from Bellingham Fire Department in Washington State for the construction of a M2-38 Catamaran CBRN Emergency Response and Recovery Vessel. The M2-38 aluminum catamaran will be powered by twin Cummins QSB6.7 425hp turbo diesel propulsion engines coupled to Hamilton HJ292 water-jets via TwinDisc 5075SC marine transmissions. NY/NJ Port Authority Orders Two Vessels from Moose Boats

Moose Boats, a boat designer and manufacturer in the San Francisco Bay Area, recently finalized contract specifications with The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for the construction of two M2-35 Outboard Catamarans for Patrol and Emergency Rescue Response in the waters surrounding JFK and LaGuardia International Airports. The M2-35 aluminum catamarans will be powered by twin Yamaha 350hp outboards, are equipped with a self-contained Darley fire pump and are each capable of carrying and deploying 20 twelve-person life rafts.

SFPD Receive M2-37 Catamaran Patrol Boat

Moose Boats, a boat designer and manufacturer in the San Francisco Bay Area, delivered the 70th Moose Boat built, a M2-37 Catamaran Patrol Boat to San Francisco Police Department. The M2-37 all aluminum catamaran will be powered by twin Cummins QSB6.7L 425hp turbo diesel engines coupled to twin Hamilton HJ292 water-jets. The cabin is outfitted with shock mitigating seating for three personnel, a generous workstation, an array of Furuno navigation equipment, Motorola and Icom communications equipment and FLIR gyro-stabilized thermal imaging equipment with a dedicated Nauticomp display screen.
