L-3 Unidyne Awarded $39.4m Navy Funds
L-3 Services, Inc., Unidyne Division, Norfolk, Va., is being awarded a $39,488,032 firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to provide submarine mechanical/electronic system engineering, analytical, logistics and technical support services for Command, Norfolk Ship Support Activity. This contract contains one option, which, if exercised, will bring the contract value to $79,763,280. Work will be performed in Norfolk, Va. (60 percent); Portsmouth, N.H. (5 percent); Kings Bay, Ga. (5 percent); Groton, Conn. (10 percent); Bremerton, Wash. (5 percent); San Diego, Calif. (5 percent); Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (5 percent); and Guam (5 percent). Work is expected to be completed by April 15, 2013.
New Navy Contracts
L-3 Services, Inc., Unidyne Division, Norfolk, Va., is being awarded a $46,670,682 indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity, cost plus fixed fee contract for engineering services to operate and maintain the Technology Center for Cables and Connectors (TC3) facility located at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division (NUWC), Newport. Efforts will include: TC3 facilities maintenance and operation, parts procurement and logistic services, fabrication services, research and development services, test and evaluation services, reliability maintainability availability services, programmatic support, and in-service engineering activity services in support of sensors and sonar systems.
L-3 Titan Wins LCAC SLEP Contract
L-3 Communications Titan Corporation Unidyne Division, Norfolk, Va., is being awarded a $16,731,438 firm-fixed-price contract for the Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) of the Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) 29 and 32. LCAC SLEP extends the service life of the LCAC from 20 to 30 years. LCAC SLEP modifications include repair/refurbishment of the hull, main engine upgrades, installation of a new skirt system, and upgrades to the communication/navigation systems. The LCAC provides heavy lift capability to perform amphibious assaults and operational maneuvers from the sea. LCAC is a high-speed, fully amphibious landing craft capable of carrying a 60-ton payload (75 tons in overload) at speeds in excess of 40 knots and a nominal range of 200 nautical miles.
Service Deal Signed for LCACs
L-3 Communications Titan Corp. Unidyne Division, Norfolk, Va., is being awarded a $22,712,231 firm-fixed-price contract for the Service Life Extension program (SLEP) for three Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) craft. LCAC is the essential element within the current and future Navy/ Marine Corps amphibious warfare triad that provides heavy lift capability to perform amphibious assaults and operational maneuvers from the sea. LCAC SLEP entails modifications for extending the service life of the LCAC from twenty to thirty years. Modifications include repair/refurbishment of the hull, main engine upgrades, installation of a new skirt system, and upgrades to the communication/navigation systems. Work will be performed in Norfolk, Va., and is expected to be completed by March 2009.
