Fairbanks Morse Defense Acquires Welin Lambie

U.S.-based marine defense provider Fairbanks Morse Defense (FMD) has acquired Welin Lambie, a U.K.-based manufacturer of davits used specifically for the launch and recovery of all types of craft from ships or shore-based installations.The acquisition further expands FMD’s capabilities and service solutions for shipyard, defense and commercial marine customers, including the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Canadian Coast Guard. Additionally, FMD’s acquisition of Welin Lambie enhances its product and service offerings for future uncrewed ship programs…

JA Moody Acquires Pima Valve

Acquisition expands operational capabilities to include design and manufacturing and demonstrates commitment to U.S. based manufacturing sector. Moody says that it will provide a broader suite of products for its marine and commercial customer base. JA Moody, a privately held family business with its headquarters in Malvern, PA, that has been distributing valves and actuators to the U.S. DOD and commercial entities for 65 years, today announced that it’s parent company has completed the acquisition of Pima Valve. Pima Valve, headquartered in Chandler, Arizona produces a wide variety of bronze, flanged marine products and is a recognized leader in the commercial and marine valve market for multi-turn product. In 2017 Pima Valve celebrated its 50th year in business.

McDermott Engineers Created the World’s Largest Specialty Valves

After nearly two years of planning and development McDermott's team has achieved a first of a kind in the valve industry; creating the world’s largest forged body specialty valve, in collaboration with a valve manufacturer. The valves are destined for the INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG Project. “The Ichthys Project umbilical, riser and flowline infrastructure – which will be installed at the Ichthys Field offshore Western Australia - requires connection of the subsea riser base to the 42-inch gas export pipeline going to the onshore LNG processing facility…

Vice Adm. William Hilarides, the commander of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), recently spoke to a small group of reporters about his vision for NAVSEA and the challenges and opportunities he faces. A decline in the number of skilled Sailors able to conduct repairs onboard their ships; an aging civilian workforce; balancing capability with affordability and achieving commonality are priority issues for Hilarides and his staff. To reduce the total lifecycle cost of its ships, the Navy eliminated some sea duty positions for Sailors on ships in the late 1990s.

W&O caps a busy year with two additional deals intended to penetrate the busy offshore markets with cutting edge products. For many, the recently announced W&O Supply partnership agreements might come as just another piece of news in the busy marine markets. For starters, however, W&O Supply is now the exclusive sales agent for PG Marine Group – Ing Per Gjerdrum AS – in North America. Separately, Bestobell Valves, part of the President Engineering Group (PEGL), also named W&O Supply as its exclusive distributor for Bestobell Valves in North America. Finally, and in concert with PG Marine in a 3-way partnership, W&O was also named as the exclusive North American sales distributor for the Hyde GUARDIAN Ballast Water Treatment solution (BWTS) to the marine industry.

Bestobell Valves Used on High-speed LNG Ferry

Bestobell Valves, part of the President Engineering Group (PEGL), has supplied valves to what has become the fastest LNG (liquefied natural gas) fuelled ferry ever built. The specialist cryogenic valve manufacturer produced 70 globe, check and thermal relief valves, which were supplied to Chart Ferox, a company based in the Czech Republic, which manufactured the fuel system for the ferry. Bestobell Valves has enjoyed a long working relationship of over 20 years with Chart Ferox, a company which specializes in the manufacture of cryogenic storage vessels.

Hamworthy Acquires AW Flow Holdings

Hamworthy, a designer and manufacturer of innovative marine and offshore fluid handling systems, announces that it has acquired 100 per cent of the issued share capital of AW Flow Holdings Limited ("AW Flow") and its subsidiary undertakings, a UK based specialist valve manufacturer for the oil and gas sector. The consideration is £24 million on a debt free/cash free basis, funded entirely from Hamworthy's own cash reserves. £21.6 million was paid on completion with a further £2.4 million of deferred consideration payable over the next two years. In the year to 31 October 2010 AW Flow had revenue of £20.2 million and pre-tax profit of £4.6 million in respect of its continuing businesses.

Emerson Acquires Marine Valve Supplier

Engineering firm Emerson Electric Co. has acquired marine valve supplier Damcos Holding AS, the AP reported Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Damcos Holding supplies valve remote controls and tank monitoring equipment to the marine and shipbuilding industries. Damcos will become part of Emerson's process management business, which helps companies automate their production and processing systems. Emerson bought the company from British investor 3i Group PLC, Danish valve manufacturer Danfoss AS and the Damcos management team. Source: AP
