SUNY Maritime to Inaugurate College President

SUNY Maritime College will inaugurate Rear Adm. Michael A. Alfultis, Ph.D. as its 11th president on Friday, November 7 at 11:30 a.m. in the campus’ newest facility, the Maritime Academic Center. On Thursday and Friday, the campus will celebrate the investiture of Dr. Alfultis with a variety of educational, celebratory and historical activities, which will embrace the time-honored traditions of learning and leadership. Festivities kick-off Thursday with an inauguration week luncheon for students only on the Mess Deck in Vander Clute Hall. Admiral Alfultis will be on hand to speak with students.

Maritime College to Honor Angerame, Bouchard

The State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime College said it will honor two industry leaders at its annual Admiral’s Scholarship Dinner on Tuesday, May 6. The dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Vander Clute Hall on the SUNY Maritime College campus. All tables to the event are sold out. At the event, the College will honor Richard A. Angerame, Class of 1973, President and CEO of utiliVisor, and Morton S. Bouchard III, President and CEO of Bouchard Transportation Company, Inc. for their generous and continued support of the College and its students. Angerame has more than 35 years experience in the operation and performance of HVAC and utility metering systems.

SUNY Hosting Free Shipping Symposium

SUNY Maritime College Presents The Annual 2012 Groundhog Day Cutting Edge Issues in Shipping Symposium. At 10:00 am,    "Cuba Oil Drilling - U.S. Contingency Planning  to respond to a pollution release impacting U.S  Waters"  will  be the topic of  a talk by Captain Francis (“Stash”) Pelkowski, USCG  and Assistant Professor, Global Business &  Transportation, SUNY Maritime College. James Maloney, Esq., SUNY Maritime graduate and maritime attorney will tackle the topic of  "Controversial Issues of Marine Insurance,” at 10:45 am.

SUNY Maritime College Admiral’s Scholarship Dinner

State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime College’s annual Admiral’s Scholarship Dinner will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, on the College’s Throgs Neck, Bronx, New York campus. The event will begin at 6:00 pm with a cocktail hour, followed by the awards dinner at 7 pm in Vander Clute Hall. During the Admiral’s Scholarship Dinner, SUNY Maritime College will salute two Maritime graduates, Mark Barker, president, The Interlake Steamship Company, Cleveland, Ohio as well asThomas Merrell, president, General Dynamics, American Overseas Marine (AMSEA), in Quincy, Mass. The chemical tanker owner, BLT Chembulk Group  headquartered in Southport, Conn., will also be honored that evening.

Free SUNY Maritime Conference

SUNY Maritime College will present the College’s 5th Annual Conference on Cutting Edge Issues in Shipping, Tuesday, February 2, 2010, the “Tiv,” McMurray Hall, Maritime College, Throggs Neck, N.Y. Admission to the day-long seminar is free and it is hosted by the Maritime College Department of Global Business and Transportation. The day will begin with a complimentary continental breakfast at 8:00 a.m. There will be morning and afternoon sessions. Austin L. Dooley, President of the Society of Maritime Arbitrators, will present the keynote address at 1 p.m. Additional speakers include: Brite Gu, of Logistics Pan America, at 8:45 a.m., discussing the impact of recent economic times on the business of non-vessel owning common carriers…

SUNY Maritime Admiral’s Scholarship Dinner

On Tuesday, May 5th, at 6:00 pm, the State University of New York Maritime College will salute the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Kirby Inland Marine and Professor Emeritus William Sembler, ’52 at the College’s annual Admiral’s Scholarship Dinner. The event will be held on the college’s waterfront campus in Throgs Neck, New York. ESPN Sailing Analyst and former America’s Cup sailor Gary Jobson will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the event. ABS is an international classification society devoted to promoting the security of life, property and the marine environment through the development and verification of standards for the design, construction and operational maintenance of marine-related facilities. 2005 Admiral’s Scholarship Dinner Sets Record

SUNY Maritime College hosted a record crowd of over 400 during the 2005 Admiral’s Scholarship Dinner, held in Vander Clute Hall on Friday, May 6 at Maritime’s scenic waterfront campus. A record $200,000 was also raised in support of cadet scholarships for incoming freshmen.
