Two Product tankers, Svyatoy Petr and Svyatoy Pavel collided during a passage of Northern Sea Route in convoy with nuclear icebreaker Vaygach. The collision happened on 70 nautical miles SouthWest off New Siberian islands in Laptev sea. The both small clean product tankers (both 11,000, built 1992) are operated by Russia’s Morskoy Standart, according to reports. The both ships were proceeding in convoy one after another, when the tanker Svyatoy Petr got engine failuer and lost propulsion power and distance between both vessels was too short to prevent collision. After the accident the product tanker Svyatoy Petr suffered damaged bulwark in portside stern, while vessel Svyatoy Pavel got crack in starboard bow. There were no injuries reported.

From Naryan-Mar complex expedition started "Investigation Atlantic walrus habitat" for the study of animal southeastern Barents Sea. The expedition of seven experts on the research vessel "Kartesh" organized by the Council on Marine Mammals (CMM). It also involved experts WWF. The route will pass it on to the delta of the Pechora. Stena Bulk’s tanker 'Stena Polaris', with a cargo of 44,000 tons of naphtha, is sailing from the Gulf of Finland via the North-East Passage to South Korea. The 'Stena Polaris' left Russian Ust Luga in the Gulf of Finland on 17 September 2013, and is expected to arrive at the port of Yosu in South Korea on 18 October. The voyage is a joint project between Stena Bulk and South Korean Hyundai Glovis. IcebreakerTaymyr is leading the way. However there is no more ice, only open water. So there is not really any need for the 36.8 MW nuclear icebreaker to escort us and the Boris Vilkicky any longer.

The bulk carrier 'Inzhener Trubin' which is part of a pilot Northern Sea Route (NSR) trade expedition on the Tyumen-Sabetta-China route, has arrived after a 9-day voyage. After discharging cargo will load Chinese goods for the return voyage to Russia, reports Arica-Info. Since departing Sabetta InzhenerTrubin has been at sea for 32 days, and the vessel has covered over 11,000 kilometers. In the Kara Sea the bulk carrier was joined a convoy of ships escorted by nuclear icebreaker Vaygach. In the East Siberian Sea the vessel was led by icebreaker Taymyr.

The cargo ship 'Inzhener Trubin' has left Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, where it had made a stopover on the way from Yamal’s Sabetta port through the Northern Sea Route to China. The voyage, part of the Tyumen-Sabetta-China expedition, will see the vessel deliver products from domestic SME's to the Asia-Pacific region. For the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Region and Tyumen Region, this is the first practical experience in delivery via the Northern Sea Route.

Russian icebreaker 'Rossiya' leaves Murmansk for the Gulf of Finland on probably her final voyage. Rossiya has sailed on the Northern Sea Route for nearly 30 years. Gazprom successfully completes world’s first LNG supply via Northern Sea Route in the 'Ob River' carrier. The carrier left the Port of Hammerfest (Norway) to arrive at the regasification terminal in the Port of Tobata (Japan) delivering a Gazprom Group-owned LNG cargo to Japanese consumers. The Ob River LNG carrier was escorted by Atomflot-owned atomic icebreakers led by two ice masters.
