Maritime Administration Issues RFP for NSMV Training Vessels

Vessel Construction Manager Will Deliver National Security Multi-Mission Vessel. Today, the Maritime Administration (MARAD) released a Request for Proposal (RFP) to solicit for a Vessel Construction Manager (VCM) to deliver a new class of training ships referred to as a National Security Multi-Mission Vessel (NSMV). Crowley Orders ATB at Bollinger

Crowley Fuels LLC has signed a contract with Bollinger Shipyards for the construction of a new 100,000-barrel-capacity articulated tug-barge (ATB) to transport multiple clean petroleum products in the Alaska market. The Alaska-class vessel will be built at Bollinger Marine Fabricators Shipyard, in Amelia, La., with an expected delivery in the fourth quarter of 2019. The build contract includes an option for a second ATB. Once built and deployed, Crowley will operate the ATB under a long-term charter with Alaska-based Petro Star Inc.…

Crowley Maritime Corporation’s Zoe Goss, director, marine recruiting and development, and Ray Martus, vice president, vessel construction management, have been honored with 2016 Thomas Crowley Awards, the company’s highest honor for its employees. Webb Institute Senior Awarded Crowley Scholarship

Crowley Maritime Corp. has awarded a Thomas B. Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarship to Tyler Gray-Hoehn, class of 2018 at the Webb Institute, a highly-selective undergraduate institution in Glen Cove, N.Y., specializing in naval architecture and marine engineering. Gray-Hoehn, who hails from Brookfield, Wisc., was recognized for his dedication, academic excellence and leadership as a student Webb. He is senior class president and vice president of the Webb Institute’s Student Organization (SO), and has also been Webb’s Motor Boat Chair, Van Chair and a member of the Honor Council.

Hannah Wistort, Webb Institute class of 2017, is the 2016-2017 recipient of Crowley Maritime Corporation’s Thomas B. Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarship. Webb’s scholarship selection committee chose Wistort for her academic excellence and leadership skills. Wistort, who is from Niskayuna, N.Y., has been involved with many student organizations and community projects. She is a member of the Webb Leadership Committee, which organizes community service and outreach projects for students.

INSIGHTS: from Crowley's Todd Busch

Todd Busch: SVP and General Manager, Technical Services at Crowley Maritime Corporation. Todd Busch joined Crowley as an ordinary seaman in 1986, earning his masters’ license working aboard company tugboats before coming ashore in 1994 as a tug dispatcher. Since then, he has held a variety of positions with increasing responsibility within the firm. Today, the 24-year Crowley veteran is a member of the company’s senior leadership team, reporting directly to Crowley CEO Tom Crowley. Based at Crowley’s headquarters in Jacksonville, FL, he is responsible for several of the company’s business enterprises including the project management organization PMOrg (known as Crowley solutions), as well as subsidiaries Titan Salvage, Jensen Maritime Consultants, and Intrepid Ship Management.
