Friede and Goldman's WTIV Integrated Feeder Barge Gets ABS AiP

American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has granted its Approval in Principle (AIP) to a coordinated design for a wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) in conjunction with the BargeRack feeder barge system by Friede and Goldman (F&G).The design enables the Jones Act-compliant barge in a lifting system that F&G says reduces motion and increases the window of operational time. A1 Offshore Teams Up with Kenzfigee

Danish provider of offshore service vessels A1 Offshore Solutions ApS and lifting and offshore equipment specialist KenzFigee have signed a cooperation agreement to offer clients in the offshore oil, gas and wind industry a cost-efficient and safe Walk-to-Work vessel solution.The pact follows A1 Offshore Solution’s experiences with the KenzFigee 3D Active Motion Compensated (ACM) 26-meter gangway solution installed on board its’ offshore support vessel ‘Notus Express’.Increasing demand for cost efficient, safe and reliable offshore access solutions have been the basis of this joint initiative, said a press release.In addition to the installed walk-to-work system from KenzFigee, the vessel ‘Notus Express’ is fitted with a purpose-built accommodation block in 2018.

MPI Resolution’s Leg Extensions Raises Capabilities

MPI’s wind-turbine installation vessel (WTIV), MPI Resolution, is currently undergoing installation of leg extensions at the company’s Tees Offshore Base in Middlesbrough, UK. Following these modifications, MPI Resolution will be able to operate in water depths of up to 35m, depending upon the site-specific data. This represents a gain of up to 7m on the previous jacking capabilities of the vessel and substantially increases the operability as a result. Modification works started in mid-September and the ten-week work schedule is being undertaken by local fabrication and engineering firm Wilton Engineering Services Ltd, with the vessel jacked alongside to deck height of 25m above the quay. MPI Resolution is the world’s first purpose-built WTIV.

Wärtsilä to Design 6 OSVs for China's COSL

Wärtsilä signed a contract with China Oilfield Services Ltd (COSL) to supply the designs for a total of six new ships. The two Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) and four Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessels will initially provide support operations in the South China Sea and Bohai Bay. The contract was signed in December 2012. The PSVs are based on Wärtsilä Ship Design's VS 485 PSV MKIII design that offers a highly energy and environmentally efficient vessel solution with an optimized hull design for greater efficiency, with corresponding reduced emission to air.

Wärtsilä Supplies New Efficient PSV

The new VS 485 Mk III has outstanding performance in the areas of fuel-efficiency and safety.

The ship will be of the new VS 485 Mk III design and it will be one of the most cost and fuel-efficient supply vessels ever to be launched. Wärtsilä, the marine industry's leading solutions provider and system integrator, has been awarded the contract to supply the design and equipment for a new Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) for offshore operations. The order has been placed by Hellesøy Verft AS, the Norwegian shipyard that will build the vessel, which is to be owned and operated by Norwegian ship owner, Vestland Offshore. The vessel is scheduled to be delivered towards the end of 2012.

Chouest, New Series of Diesel Electric OSVs

The Edison Chouest Offshore family of companies announced plans to design and build a series of a dozen 300-ft., 5,300 DWT deepwater diesel-electric offshore supply vessels. “Since 2003, the core of our newbuild program has been a series of 42 new generation, 4,750 DWT deepwater 280-ft. offshore supply vessels,” said Gary Chouest. “Those vessels revolutionized the industry and have performed remarkably well for our many customers in the U.S. But with the 280-ft. series winding down (30 currently in operation, another 12 under construction and scheduled for completion by the second quarter 2010), Chouest sought a different and more diverse option for its customers. “Our diesel-electric design complies with all new emissions standards and IMO regulations.

"GAC has traditionally been involved in the delivery of ship spares since 1956 as part of our ship agency services. Now with GML, we have extended our service all the way from pick-up at the ship suppliers' door to delivery aboard ship," says Chris Steibelt, Managing Director, GAC Marine Logistics Inc.
