Royal Boskalis Wins $93.7mln European Contracts

Dutch dredging and heavylift company Royal Boskalis Westminster  has been awarded two contracts worth 85 million euro ($93.7 million) combined for strengthening and protecting a stretch of seafront coastline from erosion in Romania and the United Kingdom.The global services provider operating in the dredging, maritime infrastructure and maritime services sectors said that has been awarded a contract by Portsmouth City Council to construct new sea defenses in Southsea near Portsmouth in the south of the United Kingdom.The project will be executed in joint venture with VolkerStevin and will provide flood protection to thousands of households…

GE Partners for Royal Navy Business

GE announce its partnership with VolkerStevin Ltd. to provide technical solutions to the Defense Infrastructure Organization (DIO) for the Royal Navy. Through this partnership, GE is set to design, manufacture and commission a Rotary Frequency Converter (RFC) which enables efficient, safe and reliable power transfer from the national grid to HMS Queen Elizabeth, the first of the Royal Navy’s new aircraft carriers, based at Portsmouth Naval Base, UK. The electricity from the U.K. national grid, which operates at a frequency of 50Hz, will be converted by the RFC into 60Hz for use by the equipment on-board the Royal Navy’s aircraft carrier. This allows for the ship’s diesel generators to be switched off while at berth in Portsmouth Naval Base, reducing noise, pollution and costs.

Boskalis Wins Veja Mate OWF Foundations Deal

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) in partnership with VolkerWessels (Volker Stevin International) has been awarded a contract by Veja Mate Offshore Project GmbH for the design, procurement, fabrication, supply, transportation, installation and testing of sixty seven (67) foundations for the Veja Mate Offshore Wind Farm in the German section of the North Sea. The contract carries a value of approximately EUR 500 million, in which Boskalis has a 50 per cent share. The Veja Mate Offshore Wind Farm is located 130 kilometers north of Eemshaven and will generate a total capacity of 400 MW. The project will commence at the end of 2015 and completion of the project is expected in the fourth quarter of 2016.

Boskalis, VolkerWessels Win Offshore Wind Farm Work

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V., in partnership with Volker Stevin International (VolkerWessels), has been awarded a contract by Iberdrola Renewables Offshore Deutschland GmbH for the partial construction of the Wikinger Offshore Wind Farm in the German section of the Baltic Sea. The work comprises the transport and installation of 70 wind turbine foundations and six offshore substation piles. The contract carries a value of approximately EUR 75 million for Boskalis. Boskallis Wins Two Big Dredge Contracts

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. Boskalis is to build a breakwater in Clacton-on-Sea for Tendring District Council over a distance of five kilometers between Clacton Pier and Holland Haven. The breakwater will consist of 23 stone groynes with sand fill to create beaches in between. Boskalis will execute the project through the VBA JV Ltd (a consortium of Volker Stevin, Boskalis Westminster and Atkins). Work is scheduled to begin this summer and will be complete late 2015. UK Container Terminal Berth Works Contract Awarded

Contractor VolkerStevin appoints Mott MacDonald design engineer for deepening, renovation, of two berths in Southampton's Western Docks. Together with other port upgrades, the work for Associated British Ports will increase the terminal’s container throughput capacity by enabling future generation container vessels to access the port at all states of tide. Berths 201 and 202 were originally constructed in 1968 and 1973 respectively as the UK’s first dedicated container berths.
