Amerisur Resources Hits Oil at Indico Well in Colombia

UK-based independent full-cycle oil and gas company confirmed that Indico-1 well in Colombia reached target depth of 10,604 feet and encountered the Lower Sands of the Une formation. The South America focused oil and gas producer, which owns 30% non-operated working interest in the Indico-1 well, said the Lower Sands package is the same formation which holds the 120 feet oil column discovered at nearby Mariposa, which lies some 6.5 kilometres to the North West of Indico-1.The Mariposa well has produced at a stable rate of approximately 3,200 barrels of oil per day in natural flow from 10 feet of perforations near the top of the 120 feet oil column for over a year…

Equinor Energy Strikes Gas in Barents Sea

Norwegian multinational energy company Equinor Energy has made discovery containing up to 24billion cubic feet of gas in the Barents Sea. Two exploration targets were found, with the first containing between 10 and 20billion cubic feet, the other between one and four billion. The discovery’s profitability is currently unclear, said a statement from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD)."Equinor Energy AS has completed the drilling of wildcat well  about 15 kilometres northwest of discovery well (Atlantis) and 370 kilometres north of Hammerfest. The well's primary exploration target was to prove oil in reservoir rocks from the Late Triassic Age (upper part of the Snadd formation)…

Cairn's JV Discovers Oil Offshore Senegal

Cairn together with its joint venture partners have announced that the FAN-1 exploration well, offshore Senegal, has discovered oil. The well, located in 1,427 metres (m) water depth and approximately 100 kilometres offshore in the Sangomar Deep block, has reached a Target Depth (TD) of 4,927 m and was targeting multiple stacked deepwater fans. As stated prior to the commencement of operations there are no plans for immediate well testing. Further evaluation will now be required to calibrate the well with the existing 3D seismic in order to determine future plans and optimal follow up locations to determine the extent of the discovered resource.

Mustang Improves First Responder Water Rescue Kit

Mustang Survival’s First Responder Water Rescue Kit (MRK110) has been updated to include an M.I.T. 100 Inflatable PFD, replacing the belt pack inflatable. The M.I.T. 100 provides added safety and performance features over the belt pack. •An M.I.T. 100 Inflatable PFD (MD2014) to protect the officer. The M.I.T. 100 is a collar-style PFD that inflates manually when the activation cord is pulled. •A patented Rescue Stick (MRD100) to stabilize the victim. The Rescue Stick is a high-accuracy, throwable buoyancy aid that inflates automatically upon water contact. •A Throw Bag (MRD175) to retrieve the victim. The throw bag includes 75’ of floating polypropylene rope. •A drop-tested, impact resistant, air and watertight Pelican case. This case meets military, ATA and federal specifications.

Communication between the Aldous and Avaldsnes oil discoveries in the North Sea has now been confirmed. In combination these discoveries may represent an oil structure of between 500 million and 1.2 billion barrels of recoverable oil equivalent. If the upper part of the interval strikes pay dirt, the discovery will be one of the ten largest oil finds ever on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS). Statoil (OSE: STL, NYSE: STO) has a 40% stake both in licence PL 265, where Aldous was discovered, and in PL 501, where the Avaldsnes discovery was made.

Statoil and Partners Discover High-Impact Oil Well

Statoil ASA and partners Petoro AS, Det norske oljeselskap ASA and Lundin Norway AS have made a high-impact oil discovery on the Aldous Major South prospect (PL 265) in the North Sea. Well 16/2-8, drilled by the Transocean Leader drilling rig, has identified an approximately 65-meter oil column in Jurassic sandstone. The acquired data confirm that this is a reservoir of excellent quality. Statoil has previously described the well as a high-impact well, and the result confirms…

Oil Find Close to Norne

A number of discoveries close to the Norne field have been phased in. The Dompap find could help to make Norne even more robust and enhance oil production from the area. (Photo: Knud Helge Robberstad)

An oil discovery just north of the Norne field in the Norwegian Sea will be considered for development with the Norne production and storage ship. A well on the North Sea Verona prospect is dry. Drilling of an exploration well on the Dompap prospect off the coast of Nordland county has been completed after proving oil. A sidetrack drilled to establish the oil/water contact in this discovery is also in the process of completion. The Dompap strike represents StatoilHydro’s first oil find in 2009, and the preliminary estimate for recoverable reserves is 25-50 million barrels.

Drilling Complete on Gas/Oil Discovery

StatoilHydro has completed the drilling of an appraisal well on the Pan/Pandora gas/oil discovery south of the Visund field in the North Sea. The purpose of well 34/8-14 A was to delineate the 34/8-14 S Pan/Pandora discovery in the northern segment of this structure. "The area south of Visund has a considerable remaining resource potential, and we are very pleased that the expectations as to the northern extension of the discovery now have been confirmed," says the head of infrastructure-led exploration west, May-Liss Hauknes.

StatoilHydro Reports Higher Volumes on Dagny

StatolilHydrop is reported the size of the Dagny discovery in the is being upgraded to contain between 130 and 170 million barrels of oil equivalent after drilling of a sidetrack well has been completed. The purpose of the sidetrack drilling was to delineate the Dagny discovery in order to determine the oil/water contact. Including the Ermintrude find the total recoverable volume is estimated at 180-240 million barrels of oil equivalent. The appraisal wells on the Dagny structure confirm that Dagny and Ermintrude…

Gas Discovery in the Barents Sea

During the drilling of exploration well 7226/2-1 in the Barents Sea StatoilHydro, the operator of the licence, has struck gas in a prospect named Ververis. The drilling in 347 metres of water was performed by the Polar Pioneer drilling rig. This is the 13th discovery on the Norwegian continental shelf that StatoilHydro is involved in this year. The main purpose of the well was to confirm the existence of hydrocarbons in early Jurassic to mid-Jurassic sandstones. The well confirmed the existence of gas in mid-Jurassic sandstones. No gas/water contact was established.
