Maine Maritime Academy Names Paul as President

Maine Maritime Academy’s Board of Trustees announced that Jerald S. “Jerry” Paul has been named as the college’s 15th President. Paul, current President of Capitol Access and a 1989 graduate of the institution, will take office this spring.Paul will succeed President William J. Brennan, who steps down from the position at the end of April following 12 years of transformative leadership at MMA. “I am gratified that the Board has selected such a fine individual to lead this wonderful college when I step down next spring,” says President Brennan.

Maine Maritime Academy President to Retire

William J. Brennan, president of Maine Maritime Academy, announced he will retire after the upcoming school year, capping off 12 years of service to the institution.“It is an exciting moment for me, but I really do have mixed emotions about the announcement,” Brennan said. “This is truly the best job I have ever had. MMA’s mission, our students and our staff and faculty, they all mean the world to me. ABS’ Wiernicki Addresses Maine Maritime Academy Graduates

Christopher J. Wiernicki, chairman, president and CEO of ABS, addressed graduating students, their families and faculty members at Maine Maritime Academy's (MMA) Commencement on May 2. "It is an honor to speak with the young people who represent the next generation of maritime leaders," Wiernicki told the 248 students who received academic degrees. MMA president Dr. William J. Brennan said, "ABS has invested so much toward the success of our students. Brennan presented Wiernicki an honorary Doctor of Science degree to recognize his contributions to the global maritime industry.

Maine Maritime Academy Commencement Set for May 5

Castine, Maine – The Honorable David T. Matsuda, Maritime Administrator. will address the graduating class at the Maine Maritime Academy (MMA) 69th Commencement on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 11 a.m., in the Alexander Fieldhouse. As Maritime Administrator, Matsuda is the highest-ranking official of the Maritime Administration of the United States. In this role, he advises and assists the U.S. Secretary of Transportation on commercial maritime matters, the U.S. maritime industry, and strategic sealift. “The Maritime Administration is critical to the furtherance of U.S. maritime trade, work force development, and maritime education,” said MMA President, Dr. William J. Brennan.

Peter G. Vigue, chairman and chief executive officer of The Cianbro Companies will address the graduating class at Maine Maritime Academy’s (MMA) 68th Commencement on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at 11 a.m., in Alexander Fieldhouse. Vigue, a 1969 graduate of Maine Maritime Academy, will receive an honorary doctorate from the college. According to MMA President, Dr. William J. Brennan, the college will recognize Vigue’s long record of accomplishments and his position as a respected business leader. “Pete Vigue exemplifies the talent and drive so typical of many of our graduates,’ said Brennan.

Maine Maritime Academy Training Ship Master to Retire

Dr. William J. Brennan, president of Maine Maritime Academy (MMA), announced that Captain Laurence “Larry” Wade, master of the college’s training ship, will retire in 2011. Brennan’s announcement came at the conclusion of the college’s 5th Annual Celebration of Achievement awards dinner held on the college campus. Wade and his wife, Deanna, were both present at the event. In his announcement, Brennan praised Wade for his contributions to the college’s at-sea training program and his ongoing commitment to the furtherance of the college.
