YANMAR America’s Commercial Marine Division Adds Three Repower Centers

YANMAR America’s Commercial Marine Division has announce the addition of three new Repower Centers to its distribution network: Kennedy Engine in Biloxi, Mississippi; Sun Power Diesel in Dania Beach, FL and Todomar in Colombia.“YANMAR is looking to add local market experts to our distribution network. Kennedy Engine, Sun Power and Todomar are a good match due to their regional knowledge of applications and customers in terms of needs and expectations,” commented Terry Wallace, Division Manager for YANMAR America Commercial Marine.Kennedy Engine has a history as long as YANMAR’s dating back to 1912 when William Patrick Kennedy introduced the otter trawl and gasoline-powered Lugger to the seafood industry in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Bollinger VP Fanguy Snags SNAME Award

Louisiana-based shipbuilder Bollinger Shipyards, LLC announced its vice president for quality management system, Dennis Fanguy, will receive the 2015 William M. Kennedy from the Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers (SNAME). The award, given in recognition of outstanding service and contribution in the development of systems and planning applying to shipbuilding and ship repair, will be presented to Fanguy at the World Maritime Technology Conference / SNAME Maritime Convention in Providence, R.I. at the President’s Luncheon on November 6, 2015.

SNAME Graduate Scholarships Award Winners

SNAME announced the recipients of the Graduate Scholarships awarded for year 2015-16. Wilbur N. Landers Scholarship Award goes to Alyssa M. William M. Kennedy Scholarship Award has been won by Michael T. Recipient of Tommy L Richards Scholarship Award is Russell George Forthuber, 2009 Marine Engineering Systems graduate of the U.S. Alan C. McClure Scholarship Award has been bestowed on James McNeill Landreth, 2008 graduate of the U.S. John V. Frederick H. The winner of the David A. O'Neil Scholastic Award is Anthony Donato Nigro, 1991 Marine Engineer graduate of S.U.N.Y. Maritime College,  to study in Master's of Marine Engineering program at the U.S.

Cotton, Cox, Harris Receive '14 AOTOS Awards

The United Seamen's Service (USS) 2014 Admiral of the Ocean Sea Awards (AOTOS) were presented to Stephen Cotton, General Secretary of the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF); Joseph J. Cox, President/CEO, Chamber of Shipping of America; and Frederick J. Harris, President of General Dynamics NASSCO and Bath Iron Works, an American shipbuilder. The maritime industry's most prestigious awards were presented at a gala industry dinner and dance held at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel, New York City, on November 7, 2014.
