"World First": Remote In-water Ship Surveys via ROV

As COVID-19 continues to challenge many business plans and practices, the advent of remote inspection techniques is growing in popularity. What is reported to be the world’s first in-water remote ship surveys using a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) have been completed by DNV GL.In-water bottom surveys using ROVs have now been carried out on three separate Wilson ASA-managed vessels with the first having been completed on the Wilson Fedje in December 2019 by a surveyor from Høvik. The survey was performed earlier in July on another ASA Wilson-managed vessel in Bergen, Norway.

Wilson Buys Two Bulkers

Wilson Ship Management, a short sea company working hand in hand with major players within the Norwegian and European industry, has signed an agreement to purchase the two bulk carriers MV Lauren C (2007) and MV Nicole C (2008), both of 5,000 dwt.The vessels are expected to be acquired during the first quarter of 2020. Upon acquisition, both vessels will be given Wilson names. The purchase is financed through equity and deductions from the company's loan facility in the bank.The acquisition of MV Lauren C and MV Nicole C marks the growth of today's fleet with two vessels. The acquisition underpins Wilson's long-term belief in the market and is the company's first vessel in the 5,000 dwt segment.Meanwhile, Wilson has entered into an agreement to sell the bulk carrier MV Wilson REEF.

Transas to Promote Fleet Efficiency for Wilson Ship Management

Transas said it booked an order in Q1 2018 with the Norway-based fleet operator Wilson ASA to supply a Fleet Operations Solution (FOS) including onboard navigational and communication components to provide enhanced connectivity for business communications and crew services, and access to fleet data from shore-based locations for complete situational awareness.For Transas, which was acquired by Wärtsilä in May 2018, the contract marks one of the first applications of the Thesis concept within Wärtsilä’s Smart Marine Ecosystem vision, which uses high levels of connectivity and digitalization.

Wilson Ship Management, WSS Signs Service Fleet Agreement

Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) finalized a five-year Safety Service Fleet Agreement with Wilson Ship Management (WSM), sealing the deal last week in Oslo at Norshipping. Wilson Ship Management has been testing WSS’s new Safety Service Concept over the last 12 months. “In today’s market, we are continually looking for ways in which we can keep costs under control," said Heine Olsen, Fleet Manager at Wilson Ship Management . The contract with Norwegian-based WSM is the first of its kind for WSS. “This agreement is a result of successful team work between ourselves and Wilson Ship Management.
