Marlink Adds Services

October 14, 2003

Marlink announced will add Telenor (TEL.OL)'s new E-Mail Advanced service to portfolio of e-mail value added services designed for customers communicating from remote locations on land or at sea. The new service includes an automatic mailbag compression feature that can cut transmission costs by up to 80 percent by reducing the size and time needed to send messages. E-Mail Advanced operates with most Inmarsat maritime and land mobile technologies including Inmarsat A, B, M, Mini-M, GAN and Fleet services. The E-Mail Advanced software reduces expensive modem dialing and authentication procedures to a minimum and features full duplex capability for sending and receiving e-mail simultaneously and high compression algorithms. The service also features a crash recovery program capable of resuming full duplex transmission if a connection is lost or broken mid-session. All of these features help reduce airtime and improve the user's cost efficiency. There are no monthly fees or annual service charges, other than standard airtime charges, for Marlink customers who sign up to use this new e-mail service. E-Mail Advanced requires no specialized hardware, is easy to install and set up, and has pre-installed drivers and dialing strings for most Inmarsat terminals. In addition to Telenor's E-Mail Advanced service, Marlink offers one of the most complete portfolios of e-mail solutions available in the mobile communications industry. Marlink's portfolio features its premier line @SEA(mail) products, available in stand-alone and network versions.
