MSC Signs Global Declaration of Intent Against Counterfeiting
Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has signed an official declaration, designed to prevent the maritime transportation of counterfeit goods. The declaration is the work of the International Chamber of Commerce, which launched the Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy (BASCAP) in 2004. BASCAP’s mission is to encourage government action and to enhance the campaigning voice of businesses and industries who see the social and economic harm caused by counterfeiting on a global level. MSC is pleased to become a signatory of the formal declaration, and to make public its ‘zero tolerance’ attitude toward the carriage of counterfeit products.
Lukoil Supplies Lubricants for MSC Oscar
With the launch of MSC Oscar, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) sets a new record in terms of TEU capacity; at 19,224 TEU, the vessel is largest containership ever built.The ship was officially inaugurated at the Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) Shipyard in South Korea on January 8, 2015 and will service trade routes between Asia and Europe. According to Lukoil Marine, who supplies lubricants to more than 100 vessels in the MSC fleet, MSC Oscar’s size isn’t its only impressive aspect.
MSC to Lease New Marine Terminal at Port Everglades
An appointed selection committee unanimously chose Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC) to negotiate a lease and operating agreement for a 36-acre dockside container terminal at Broward County’s Port Everglades. Final approval is subject to consent from the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, the governing authority for Port Everglades. This terminal is expected to generate approximately one-million tons of cargo annually with two weekly services at Port Everglades, according to MSC officials. MSC, of Geneva, Switzerland is a privately owned shipping line, founded in 1970. The company has grown rapidly to become one of the leading global shipping lines.
