HII & Northrop Grumman Awarded Navy Contracts

In the latest announcement of US Department of Defense, Navy, contracts, Huntington Ingalls Inc. and Northrop Grumman Systems Corp. Huntington Ingalls Inc., Newport News, Va., is being awarded a $7,319,933 cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-12-C-2101) for planning and design yard functions for standard Navy valves in support of nuclear-powered submarines. Work will be performed in Newport News, Va., and is expected to be completed by September 2014. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity. World's Third Largest Boast Hoist Delivered

Ohio Company expands woith world's third largest mobile boat hoist. The Great Lakes Towing Company and Great Lakes Shipyard purchase a Marine Travelift 700C. The Great Lakes Towing Company and Great Lakes Shipyard expanded their marine transportation, construction-repair and marine logistics business with the acquisition of a Marine Travelift 700C mobile boat hoist. The new 770-ton mobile boat hoist is the largest on the Great Lakes and the third largest in the world (next to the Marine Travelift 1000-ton in Norfolk, Virginia and Marine Travelift 800-ton in Singapore).

Ground Broken on New Shipyard

As part of its continuing plans for diversification and expansion The Great Lakes Towing Company, a 106-year old tug company, now a multi-faceted marine transportation and ship and boat repair business, will construct a new $3,500,000 headquarters building and state-of-the-art shipyard complex on its present 6-acre deep waterfront property in the Old River Channel of the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland, Ohio. Located at the foot of West 45th Street on Division Avenue, the new facilities will incorporate fabrication, welding and diesel shops to include new technologies. 40’-high fabrication building will be equipped with a 10-ton overhead crane that will travel the entire 150’ length of the building, and its 30’ high by 40’ hanger door will permit indoor barge and tug construction and repairs.
