Iveco Introduces First Engine in New Line

, a subsidiary of Iveco Motors is making waves in the marine industry with the introduction of the NEF 370, the first engine in its new line of marine engines for the pleasure craft industry, from the NEF series of diesel engines.
The six cylinder, high performance NEF 370 model features an electronic common rail fuel injection system. With 370 hp and weighing just 1,312 lbs, this engine has a power to weight ratio of 3.54lbs/hp. In addition, the design of the four-stroke NEF engine requires less routine maintenance.

New Yanmar Engine Boasts Outstanding Power-to-Weight Ratio
Packing 25 percent more torque than the previous 4JH3 model in the same, compact package, the 4JH4 from Yanmar Marine USA Corporation exhibits
a notable power-to-weight ratio, making it ideal for repowering. Rated at 54 hp @ 3,000 rpm, its displacement increased just 10 percent. In addition to the extra power, the engine is quieter. With a larger silencer, low-vibration characteristics and lower operating rpm, engine noise is reduced five dB(A).
A completely redesigned cylinder block and a new combustion system enhance the naturally aspirated, water-cooled, four-cylinder diesel. For maintenance, the 4JH4 boasts a gear-driven sea-water pump mounted at the front of the engine and a newly-designed V-pulley to ensure long belt life. Additional features include an electric-stop solenoid and a compact control panel with hour meter. Running cleaner and producing less smoke, the engine complies with current EPA regulations. Yanmar's 4JH4 can be equipped with mechanical or hydraulic transmissions. It is also available in double-seal, heavy-duty SD40 saildrive configurations.

The Konrad 540 Stern Drive is manufactured in two variations, the Standard 540 and the High Performance 540. Standoff boxes with external steering complement selective applications. It features a number of benefits, such as oversized bearings, thicker walled casings, one piece propeller shaft, continuous oil circulation for cool operation, no corrosive exhaust through drive and precision machined super alloy gears. It is designed for performance applications. It is said to be lighter and faster, enhancing the performance of diesel and gasoline powered craft.
Bombardier Evinrude Introduces New Technology
Bombardier Recreational Products introduced and demonstrated the first specialized Evinrude non-gasoline burning outboard engine (NBOE) at the Multi-Agency Craft Conference (MACC), held last year at the U.S. Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek, in Norfolk, Va . The Evinrude 30-hp direct injection (DI) NBOE is submersible and also production-ready.
Instead of burning gasoline, NBOEs are fueled by JP class jet fuel, as mandated by the U.S. Department of Defense under its single-fuel initiative. The U.S. Department of Navy directive stipulates that, by the year 2010, transporting gasoline aboard its ships and aircraft will no longer be allowed.
The Evinrude NBOE model is the first outboard engine available to meet the new single-fuel mandates. This announcement culminates years of Evinrude and U.S. Navy research and development on alternative-fuel outboard engines. Bombardier plans to deliver the first shipment of pre-production 30-hp Evinrude NBOEs to the U.S. Department of Navy for operational testing in July 2003. Development of Evinrude NBOE products combined proven DI technology with Bombardier's world-leading engineering expertise. This type of advancement will enable Evinrude outboard engines to continue powering government and military agencies' craft for many years to come.
