MAN B&W Power Package for New Patrol Vessel

MAN B&W Diesel A/S won the contract to supply three 9L21/31 Holeby GenSets as main power source for a new 3,000 dwt Patrol Vessel newbuilding under construction for the China State Oceanic Administration, Beijing. The vessel will also be equipped with a 6L16/24 harbor GenSet, which can operate in parallel with the main GenSets.

The patrol vessel will be built by the Jiangnan Shipyard, Shanghai, China. The newbuilding is scheduled for delivery towards the end of 2004. Like the earlier Diesel-Mechanical MAN B&W-powered 1,000 dwt type II vessel ordered in parallel, this Diesel-Electric 3000 DWT vessel was also designed by MARIC.

The main particulars of this vessel is: Length (wl) 91 m Breadth 15.2 m Draft 5 m Displ/Cb abt. 3,000 ton

The Diesel-Electric propulsion plant is based on triple nine cylinder L21/31 MAN B&W medium-speed engines with ABB type AMG 560 L6 alternators, driving two propellers/podded thrusters, which will be speed controlled via an ABB-supplied DTC frequency converter system. A total main engine output of 5,635kW (7,660 BHP) will supply the power for the ships hotel load and a maximum speed of 18 knots – and a service/cruising speed of 15 knots.
