Environmental Services USCG Contract for Tetra Tech

Tetra Tech, Inc., says it has been awarded the US$60-Million contract with the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) for professional architect-engineering environmental services. SHIPPINGInsight 2013 Announces Agenda and Speaker List

The SHIPPINGInsight conference producers have finalized the agenda and confirmed speaker list for the 2013 Fleet Optimization Conference, scheduled for Oct. 22-24 at the Sheraton Stamford Hotel in Stamford, Conn. “The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Connect and Engage,’” said conference co-producer Frank Soccoli. “We are bringing together an impressive lineup of speakers, moderators, panelists, sponsors, exhibitors and delegates representing all segments of the shipping industry. New for 2013 is an extra LNG Workshop, which will take the form of a roundtable discussion of experts to consider the barriers, challenges, solutions and best practices for achieving widespread adoption of LNG as a marine fuel. New Navy Contracts

Vericor Power Systems, LLC, Alpharetta, Ga., is being awarded a $32,102,544 firm fixed price modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-08-C-4117) to exercise an option for the manufacture, testing and delivery of 24 ETF40B marine gas turbine engines for the Landing Craft - Air Cushion (LCAC) Service Life Extension Program fiscal year 2009 requirements. Work will be performed in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and is expected to be completed by August 2010. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. Panama Canal Requests Proposals For New Locks Construction

The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) released its Request for Proposal (RFP) Friday on the "design-build" contract for the new locks under the Canal's Expansion Program. Four global consortia will now move forward with their bids on what will be the largest and most important project under the $5.25b expansion. The Expansion Program will build a new lane of traffic along the Panama Canal through the construction of a new set of locks, doubling capacity and allowing more traffic and longer, wider ships. The ACP will meet with consortia representatives in February 2008 regarding the content of the RFP for the construction of the new set of locks. Proposals are due August 2008.
