BOEMRE to Hold Industry Workshop on Plan Processing

Tuesday, March 08, 2011

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE) will host a one-day workshop in New Orleans to discuss standards and requirements for exploration and development plans, with an emphasis on the new safety requirements that have been implemented over the past six months.

“BOEMRE has participated in many meetings with oil and gas companies to explain new plan requirements, and we are continuing those outreach efforts through workshops such as this,” said BOEMRE Director Michael R. Bromwich. “We are making every effort – in every way – to help companies understand and comply with the new requirements for exploration and development processing plans to ensure our nation’s vital offshore energy resources are developed safely and responsibly.”

The purpose of the workshop is to discuss various issues regarding plan requirements and to facilitate the ability of applicants to meet the new requirements in their plan submissions.  The workshop will provide information on plan submissions related to:

   -   Exploration and Development Plans
   -   Worst Case Discharge Calculations (NTL No. 2010-N06)
   -   National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
   -   Oil Spill Response Plans
   -   Spill Response and Containment (NTL No. 2010-N10)

The workshop will be held on March 25, 2011, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the BOEMRE Gulf of Mexico Region Office in Elmwood, 1201 Elmwood Park Boulevard, New Orleans, La, 70123.

This one-day workshop will be open to Gulf of Mexico Region Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) oil and gas stakeholders.  There is no registration required for this event.  However, seating is limited.
