The American Maritime Partnership (AMP) announced the election of new leadership for the organization. Jennifer Carpenter takes the helm as president, and, in doing so, becomes the first woman to lead the organization. Many Leadership Changes at W&O
W&O, a global supplier to the marine and marine offshore markets for pipe, valves and fittings, valve automation and engineered solutions, announced several changes to leadership at its Gulf Coast branches, as well as at its offices in Charleston, Norfolk and Fort Lauderdale. Vince Rodomista, a graduate of Kings Point with a degree in Marine Engineering and Marine Transportation, joins W&O as General Manager of the Houston branch. He spent the first seven years of his professional career as an engineer and deck officer onboard a variety of vessels.

Propeller Club Port and NYMAR Host NYC Harbor Cruise
April 22, 2011—Statue Cruise’s M/V Respect will be the venue for a joint Propeller Club and NYMAR 2011 New York Harbor Cruise. Passengers will embark from Battery Park at 6:00 on May 4th for a close up of the spectacular Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Manhattan views, dinner and drinks. Proceeds from the event will go to relief in Japan after the recent earthquake and tsunami. “After a long, cold winter, the maritime community is ready to come out of hibernation and get back on the water,” stated Propeller Club Chapter President Carleen Lyden-Kluss.
MISNA Elects New Slate of Officers for 2001
At a recent meeting of their board of Directors in Vancouver, British Columbia, the Maritime Information Services of North America (MISNA) elected a new slate of officers for 2001. Stepping down as president after three consecutive terms is Capt. Manny Aschemeyer, executive director for the Marine Exchange of Los Angeles-Long Beach Harbor. Aschemeyer is a founding director for MISNA and has been responsible for bringing the organization through a new period of growth and industry outreach. Aschemeyer, a graduate of the California Maritime Academy, has had a long career within the maritime industry and holds an active Master Mariners License (unlimited). Before joining the Marine Exchange, Aschemeyer was vice president of customer service and marketing with Stevedoring Services of America.
Propeller Club Holds Annual Convention
Over 400 participants converged on Biloxi, Miss., to attend the annual Propeller Club Convention. Maritime industry leaders, Propeller Club Members from around the world, Propeller Club Student Port Members and spouses enjoyed informative panel discussions that addressed issues such as Shipbuilding, Terminal Operations, Offshore Drilling Construction, Short Sea Shipping in Europe and the U.S., Inland Waterway Issues, Homeland and Port Security, Ballast Water Issues and others. When not attending excellent panel sessions, attendees were afforded southern charm and hospitality at every turn as the host Ports of Gulfport, Pascagoula and Mobile created a unique and rewarding experience for all.
