The UK Secretary of State for energy and climate change has hailed subsea services company ROVOP as ‘a leading specialist in its field’ and one which is ensuring that the country remains at the global vanguard of the energy industry. The Rt Hon Ed Davey was speaking as ROVOP announced that it had further bolstered its fleet of cutting-edge ROVs by investing £4million into two new vehicles.

Mr Davey, who met senior management at ROVOP during his visit to Aberdeen to engage with high-profile energy business leaders, said, “ROVOP is a visionary company which has fast become a leading specialist in its field. It is an example of how British companies are playing a pivotal role in ensuring that the UK remains at the global vanguard of the energy industry by capitalizing on their expertise and reputation for innovation.”

Award-winning subsea specialist ROVOP, which has created more than 40 highly skilled, export-driven jobs in the last 18 months, is set to take delivery of its two new ROV systems within the next two months. The company’s latest additions to its fleet come just weeks after the Aberdeenshire-headquartered company announced that it had signed £3.5million of contracts in January alone, ensuring a strong order book for 2013. ROVOP, which also strengthened its management and onshore support team earlier this year, has invested in a 3,000m rated, 150 horsepower work class Schilling HD ROV which follows an identical system delivered in February. The second new addition involves ROVOP investing in an additional SAAB Seaeye Cougar XT ROV system, specially selected by the company for its powerful yet compact features.

Steven Gray, managing director at ROVOP, said, “It is with great pride that we show the Secretary of State one of our industry-leading subsea vehicles. ROVOP’s success demonstrates the potential for Aberdeen City and Shire's to capitalise on its expertise and cement the region’s position as a global centre of excellence in subsea engineering.”

ROVOP's growth has been supported by both the Scottish and UK governments.  Since its inception in 2011, ROVOP has experienced exceptional growth after carving out a niche for itself as a subsea specialist which is 100% focused on delivering ROV services through its dedicated talent pool of experts for both the global oil & gas and offshore wind sectors.

The company won the 2012 Business Growth accolade at the Scottish Green Energy Awards as well as Promising New Business at the 2012 Grampian Awards for Business Enterprise.

Headquartered in Westhill, Aberdeen - a global hub of subsea engineering excellence - ROVOP has also benefitted from investment and support provided by the Scottish Loan Fund, RBS and Scottish Enterprise which has enabled it to focus on sustainable international growth built on quality personnel, equipment and systems.
