Willard to Supply Patrol Boats for the Philippines
The U.S. Department of State awarded a contract to boatbuilder Willard Marine, Inc., to provide the Philippine National Police Maritime Group with patrol vessels equipped to conduct search and rescue operations along Philippine maritime borders. This contract marks the third time Willard Marine has been chosen to provide military vessels to the Philippines, the builder noted, adding it has also recently developed boats for international military use by the Navy of Ukraine and the Nepalese Army.

Numerical Towing Tanks A Practical Reality?
Since the first commercial ship basin was commissioned in 1883, towing tanks have provided naval architects with a reliable method of predicting the performance of a ship at sea. Towing tanks are used for both resistance and propulsion tests, with towed and self-propelled ship models used to determine how much power the engine will have to provide to achieve the speed laid down in the contract between shipyard and ship owner.
US Builder Secures Wind Farm Supply Vessel Order
Rhode Island based shipbuilder Blount Boats signed a contract with Rhode Island Fast Ferry for the construction of a crew transfer vessel (CTV) that will operate for Deepwater Wind Block Island, the shipbuilder announced today. The Need for Marine Spatial Planning
The sea is not empty. Ports, harbors and waterways have to manage an ever growing volume and mix of recreational activity and heavy commercial activity - at times across the same compact waterspace. This creates a series of challenging marine planning requirements that need to be addressed. While land use is often well zoned and tightly regulated, there is frequently limited designation of waterspace outside of specific fairway / anchorage demarcations and protected ecological marine areas.
