Balpure BWTS Receives USCG Certification
The IMO Type-Approved Balpure ballast water treatment system from Severn Trent De Nora has become one of the first ballast water treatment technologies to receive the United States Coast Guard’s (USCG) Alternate Management System (AMS) certification. AMS certification identifies an IMO Type-Approved system that meets the USCG requirements. Ships are required to have onboard ballast water treatment systems that prevent invasive species from being shipped into U.S. waters.

ClassNK Approves Minimal Ballast Water VLCC Design
Leading classification society ClassNK announced that it has granted AIP (Approval in Principle) to the MIBS (Minimal Ballast Water Ship) VLCC design developed by Namura Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. in cooperation with the Shipbuilding Research Centre of Japan. BWTS Supply Order for Optimarin
Optimarin to supply three ballast water treatment systems to Siem Offshore vessels. The first ship to be supplied with Optimarin Ballast Systems (OBS) is the AHTS Siem Opal during drydocking.
