Damen Partners with TeamTec for BWTS
Damen Green Solutions has signed a letter of intent with Norwegian company TeamTec to supply and service the AVITALISTM ballast water treatment system. The system combines filtration and a proven, eco-friendly chemical treatment solution optimized for medium-sized to large vessels. The system is highly effective in water of any salinity, turbidity or temperature. The intention is to advance to a full partnership by the end of 2016.

U.K.-based Solent Refit and global marine equipment specialists Cathelco have teamed up to help international customers meet new ballast water management regulations. Solent Refit, at Hythe, on Southampton Water, has built its reputation on maintaining and refitting classic and modern superyachts. USCG Denies DESMI’s BWTS Test Appeal

USCG-approved Tests of Alfa Laval PureBallast on Track
Following the United States Coast Guard (USCG) decision not to accept the most probable number (MPN) method in assessing ballast water treatment systems, tests of Alfa Laval PureBallast are underway using the USCGA-approved 5 chloromethylfluorescein diacetate (CMFDA) staining method. With completion expected during Q2 of 2016, the tests will enable a new USCG type approval application after receiving the results.
