Scania to Supply 24 V8 Diesels to Finland Navy
The Finnish Navy’s new high-speed Watercat M18 AMC landing craft are to be fitted with twin 16-litre V8 engines from Scania. Built and designed by Marine Alutech the new landing craft displace 29 tonnes, and are 19.3 metres in length. Rolls-Royce to Power USN Hovercrafts
Rolls-Royce wins contract to power the U.S. Navy’s future fleet of hovercrafts, known as the Ship-to-Shore Connector (SSC). The Group will work with Textron Marine & Land Systems, an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. company, which has been selected to build the initial development craft, in a program that could extend to 73 craft. The SSC will replace the Navy’s current fleet of Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) hovercraft over the next 20 years.

Marcon to Market High-Speed SWATH Catamaran
Marcon International, Inc. of Coupeville, Washington is pleased to announce that they have been selected by the Matanuska-Susitna Borough in Alaska to market the SWATH (Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull) Expeditionary Craft ferry “Susitna” for sale. The “Susitna” was developed by Guido Perla & Associates of Seattle, Washington from a concept created by Lockheed Martin. The vessel is designed to operate as a ferry in the difficult Alaskan waters of Cook Inlet while being assessed by the U.S.
Foss Maritime to Expand Ocean Tug Fleet
Tug and barge operator to build three new Arctic Class deep-sea tugs at Northwest shipyard. Responding to new oil and gas industry opportunities, Foss Maritime Company will build the first three tugs in an innovative Arctic Class of tugs, a fleet expansion that broadens its capacity to take on large projects in extreme environments. Construction on the first tug starts in early 2013 at Foss' Rainier, Ore., shipyard, work which will bring additional jobs to the growing Columbia River facility.

Turkish Shipyard Completes LCT Building Contract
Sea Acceptance Tests (SAT) for final delivery of eighth Landing Craft Tank (LCT) vessel built by Anadolu Shipyard (ADK) completed satisfactorily. The eighth vessel (TCG Ç-158) LCT will be ready to be delivered on August 29th 2012, having completed its Sea Acceptance Test. ANADOLU Shiphard has already delivered the first seven vessels of the LCT project (TCG Ç-151; TCG Ç-152; TCG Ç-153; TCG Ç-154; TCG Ç-155; TCG Ç-156; TCG Ç-157) between March and July 2012.

Warship Received by Royal Thai Navy
The Royal Thai Navy has officially received the first Endurance-class landing platform dock ship, HTMS Angthong (LPD-791) at Laem Thien Port, Sattahip naval base in Chon Buri, Thailand.
