MacGregor Wins Orders from Europe

MacGregor, the provider of maritime cargo and load handling services, has secured orders to provide MacGregor equipment to a European port development project and TTS products to a naval project.The orders has a total value of approximately EUR 8 million, said the Cargotec group company.The orders were booked into Cargotec's fourth quarter 2019 order intake, with deliveries planned to commence during the fourth quarter of 2020 and completed during the first quarter of 2022.A TTS technical solution is being applied to the port development project, and MacGregor’s strong position and references leveraged in the naval project.‘’This is an excellent example of the combined strength of MacGregor and TTS…

Asyaport Selects Kalmar Zero Emission RTG

Kalmar, the provider of cargo-handling solutions and services to ports, said that it has been awarded a contract to supply Asyaport Liman A.S. (Asyaport) with a total of six Kalmar Zero Emission rubber-tired gantry (RTG) cranes.According to the Cargotec group company, the order, which also includes Kalmar SmartPort solutions that are part of the recently launched Kalmar One automation system, was booked in Cargotec's 2019 Q4 order intake, with delivery scheduled for Q4 of 2020.Asyaport is a joint venture between the Turkish Soyuer family and Global Terminal Limited, which secure berths and terminal capacity in the major ports used by Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC).Asyaport is Turkey’s first transshipment container terminal and has an annual capacity of up to 2.5 million TEU.

Indonesia Gets 1st Kalmar Eco Reachstacker

Kalmar, the provider of cargo-handling solutions and services to ports, has signed a contract with Cikarang Dry Port, for the delivery of the first Kalmar Eco Reachstacker in Indonesia. Kalmar is part of Cargotec group.The order was booked into Cargotec’s 2019 second quarter order intake and scheduled for delivery in July of 2019.Cikarang Dry Port is a public inland port located in the eastern corridor of greater Jakarta. It serves direct export import for the surrounding industries under multimodal transport bill of lading provided by shipping lines partners. Kalmar first established its footprint in Indonesia in the 1980’s and during the past decades, it has worked in partnership with local dealer PT.

Kalmar Supplies Handlers to Shantou

Kalmar  has supplied Shantou China Merchants Port Group Co., Ltd. with eight Essential Range Empty Container Handlers.According to a press note from the Cargotec group unit, the handlers have been delivered respectively to Huagang Container Branch and Container Service Branch under Shantou China Merchants Port Group Co., Ltd.The order was booked in Cargotec's 2019 Q1 order intake, it said.China Merchants Port Holdings Co. Kalmar Bags Uruguay Terminal Order

The provider of lifting solutions Kalmar has agreed a deal to supply seven terminal tractors and six forklift trucks to the Rio Estiba terminal in Nueva Palmira, Uruguay.The Cargotec group company said that the order was booked in Cargotec's 2018 Q4 order intake with delivery scheduled to take place in Q2 of 2019.Rio Estiba provides port logistics services, including loading and unloading of cargo, coordination of intra-port operations, in-terminal transport, and administration and cargo handling in port warehouses. The company primarily handles cellulose products at the Nueva Palmira terminal in Uruguay. The new units will be used to expand Rio Estiba's existing fleet of Kalmar terminal tractors and forklifts.

Scott Phillips Appointed Hiab President

Scott Phillips has been appointed President of Hiab crane manufacturing division of Cargotec group as of 1 October 2018. He will be a member of the Cargotec Executive Board and report to CEO Mika Vehviläinen. Scott Phillips joins Cargotec from General Electric where he holds the position of Vice President and CEO Mining. Prior to that, he has during his 28 years' career held various global leadership positions in the construction and mining industries, working for Sandvik and Caterpillar Inc., among others. "I warmly welcome Scott to Cargotec and Hiab. He has a proven track record of leading global, multi-billion euro technology businesses in various geographies.

Flintstone Secures Contract for Tullow FPSO

Flintstone Technology Ltd said it has secured a contract with MODEC for its in-line tensioning and pull through connection mooring system to be deployed off West Africa.The system will be used on Tullow Oil’s Kwame Nkrumah MV21 floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel located on the Jubilee field off the coast of Ghana.The mooring system will allow the conversion of the FPSO to a spread moored configuration.The Kwame Nkrumah MV21 is installed in approximately 1,100 meters water depth on the Jubilee Field, which is one of the largest oil fields discovered offshore West Africa in the past 10 years.Earlier this month, Flintstone…

Port Of Felixstowe Commissions Greener RTG Cranes

The Port of Felixstowe has taken another step to improve both its operational and environmental efficiency with the introduction of its first electric-powered Rubber-Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTGs). The four machines, originally manufactured by ZPMC in Shanghai, have been converted from diesel to electric primary drive in the first project of its kind in Western Europe. The work was undertaken by Kalmar, part of the Cargotec group. Commenting on the initiative, Paul Davey, Head of Corporate Affairs, Hutchison Ports (UK) Ltd, owners of the Port of Felixstowe, said, "The Port of Felixstowe is fully committed to providing the highest levels of operational performance whilst at the same time reducing the impact of its operations on the environment.

Shipdex Protocol Ready for Use

The 4th Shipdex Conference took place at the MAN Diesel PrimeServ Academy in Augsburg, Germany on Feb. 16, where the Shipdex protocol was declared ready and available for use. Shipdex (Ship Data Exchange) is international business rules (protocol) -based and fully compliant with S1000D, developed to standardize the exchange of electronic technical data within the shipping community. The Shipdex protocol aims to ensure a high quality of technical and logistical data and simplify the exchange of data within the industry. For application service providers, Shipdex is a basic specification for implementing data interfaces from technical manual solutions to maintenance and purchase or any fully fledged ERP systems.
