Cory Brothers Opens in Amsterdam Port

Cory Brothers Shipping Agency is delighted to announce the opening of Cory Brothers (The Netherlands) BV, in the port of Amsterdam, servicing the ARA range. The new company commences operations on the 1st May 2016 and compliments the groups recent office openings in Houston and Atlanta in the USA, strengthening the Cory Brothers global brand. Cory Brothers (The Netherlands) BV will be heavily involved in Oil, Gas & Dry agency business across the ARA region, providing an efficient and seamless service to its clients. The team are all experienced ship agents, with Mr Cees De Boer at the helm as Agency Manager.

Cory Brothers New Route from Dublin

Cory Brothers Shipping Agency is delighted to announce the operation of a new route between Dublin, Ireland and Tin Can, Lagos, Nigeria. The new monthly route commences on Monday September 28th 2009 and is provided by RMR Shipping BV. RMR Shipping has many years' experience in exporting used vehicles, machinery and plant equipment to West Africa. Headquartered in The Netherlands, with a worldwide presence, RMR works with local Port Authorities to provide an efficient service to its clients. Lagos, Nigeria is the primary destination port for RMR, with additional calls in Monrovia, Liberia. Large Roll-on/Roll-off vessels, of some 2,500 metre lanes, are deployed on this route, providing an essential, regular, and direct service to Nigeria (with a transit of just 18 days).

Cory Brothers Shipping Wins BP Hub Agency Contract

Cory Brothers Shipping has been awarded a five year Hub Agency contract by BP Shipping covering the Baltic, Europe, and Mediterranean regions. This is the largest region awarded by BP Shipping within its global system and covers some 6,000 port calls per year. Cory Brothers will be responsible for managing the agency network for BP’s own fleet and voyage chartered vessels employed on BP business. The Hub Agency system ‘ShipTrak’ developed by Cory is linked to BP’s internal management system BPOSS providing a direct data link between the local port agent and BP. Apart from vessel reporting and port information, the hub team provides operational and financial control encompassing audit procedures through ‘ShipTrak’.

Shipping Industry Congratulates High Flyers

Representatives from all areas of the shipping industry gathered in London on September 27, to congratulate the highest scoring students in the 2001 Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ISC) examinations. This year, more than 1,100 students sat the examinations in 80 centers around the world. Eighty-two percent of the students were from overseas, illustrating the international appeal of the ICS. "It is very encouraging that so many students, from all corners of the world, have access to maritime related education and training. Also encouraging is the diversity of their backgrounds including accountancy firms, ship agents, oil companies, shipowners, government bodies, ship managers, insurance companies, port authorities and shipbrokers," says Barbara Fletcher, director at the ICS.
